My experience with this school overall was great there great teachers that helpful and the they are very supportive for students. they help you got jobs and get into great colleges or universities and others programs that id you don’t want to college.

I dont know what the other people are saying, but this is an amazing school. Most of the teachers there are 100% into teaching you and genuinely care about your grades (i say most, there are no perfect schools out there!). The people who wrote bad reviews just can't manage the time and are pessimistic. The workload for almost all of the teachers are minimal! Even if one teacher assigns lots of homework, that, and another subject's homework that will probably take only 10 minutes, is the only homework you'll have for the day. Most days, you'll only have an hour or less of homework, even in the 8th grade. Sometimes you have to study for multiple tests at once, but you just need to manage your time well. Also, most of the students in the SP classes are willing to help their classmates. From my memory, they usually have a group chat and help eachother with their homework, so the work load is less. Overall, an amazing school. This is why they are one of the best middle schools in Queens.

P.S 188 on the surface looks strong. Underneath, from a collection of reviews from other parents it is an emotionally damaging institution to place your child. They close the schoolyard first of all leaving students with not space to socialize after school. They are lucky if they get any time to go outside during recess since they consistently understaffed during lunch. With the exception of one teacher, there is a minimalistic culture of the bare minimum. There is also children with special needs that are disruptive and causing inequitable education experience within classrooms. Lastly in terms of being fair, the classroom per grade are not treated the same, be aware your classroom your may be left out of school trips and other events like their own school basketball games with their peers.
