Description

Remodeled Berkeley Craftsman Bungalow features a chef’s kitchen – designed by a chef! – and a resort-style large backyard, just minutes from Berkeley Bowl and the shopping district of Elmwood to the north, and cafes and restaurants and The Starry Plough to the south. Imagine: new roof, new electrical, new copper plumbing, new kitchen, new bath – all that and artistic beauty too! From the veranda, enter the spacious entry way. Right away the very high ceilings at once proclaim this is a very special home. The living room has original hand-crafted tiles around the fireplace flanked by glass-encased bookshelves. The original – and intact! – glass pocket doors separate the living room from the formal dining room, with the plate shelf, original picture-hanging molding, and the gorgeous built-ins forming a buffet under the windows. Two large bedrooms each have walk-in closets, separated by a spa-style remodeled bath. (The second bedroom has an ideal location for a future second bath.) But oh! When you enter the remodeled kitchen! It is uniquely different to see a kitchen designed by an actual chef! Features include: new fridge, breakfast bar with wine storage, extra food prep sink, new 6-burner commercial-style gas stove, pantry, and laundry area with brand new Ferrari-red washer/dryer. But oh! The French door from the kitchen swings open to the wisteria-draped deck, that leads to a patio for entertaining. The Eden-like sumptuous garden lies waiting beyond, with a variety of fruit trees, lemon and olive trees, and six-kinds of tomatoes sprouting in their own raised flower beds. A detached garage lies tucked away in the back of the garden, providing more ample space for not only a car, but for other things… This is a magical home located in a magical neighborhood, in the “Noe Valley District of the East Bay”…

"The neighborhood is super friendly great people great environment love living in the bay. It is a really nice place. I would not want to live anywhere else."
  • Trulia User
"you see people with all walks of dogs around. most are considerate with picking up with their dogs but you do have to watch out as well."
  • Trulia User
"Great access to public transit, both bus and BART, with good bikes lanes as well. There is also a ferry in the Berkeley marina"
  • Trulia User
"The residents are nice people and there’s a good number of kids. But there are often transients walking through the area."
  • Nayana S.
"Great place to take dogs around as this place is lot like homely and much green bushes. I have seen many dogs walking in the neighbourhood "
  • Torrence P.
"Lots of things to see and do. Diverse and vibrant. It does get loud at night. Public transportation is excellent. "
  • Sara M.
"Lots of students in the area because of the proximity to UC Berkeley. Its also a very political area, marches and cops and helicopters are not uncommon in response to the political climate. "
  • Poppop g. a. t.
"I lived in this neighborhood for 3 years. Since it's just south of the UC Berkeley campus, there is a lot of foot traffic and noise when school is in session. Mostly students live in this neighborhood but there are a ton of homeless people lying on the sidewalks and they can get pretty aggressive. Plenty of cheap restaurants catering to students as well."
  • Rolf
"Great walkable neighborhood with lovely historical homes. Very diverse community."
  • Rolf
"Berkeley has high property taxes with the outcome of good public services and excellent schools. This part of south Berkeley is bicycle friendly with great grocery stores (perhaps the best options in the State!) plus neighbors who walk and know each other. A very enjoyable & diverse neighborhood."
  • Misha
"A perfect 10-15 minute walk to the Cal Campus or the upscale, but delicious Elmwood area. Animal friendly neighborhood, with a fairly strong neighborhood association. The Julia Morgan Theater and Benvenue Public Library as well as excellent schools are just some of the treasures of this area."
