About this House
Newly renovated, yet maintaining more than a century's worth of quaint character.
Cottage Features:
With approximately 580 sf of living space, this charming cottage was recently upgraded with new designer paint, stylish, eco-friendly COREtec "blackstone oak" flooring from EcoHome Improvement, cute kitchen with new butcherblock countertop, and updated plumbing and Marmoleum in the bathroom. It retains its original charm with diamond-pane windows and antique chandeliers.
Cottage has a shared entrance through the front yard, and it's own separate fenced backyard.
The Neighborhood:
Located just two blocks to world-famous food mecca, The Berkeley Bowl, four blocks to Ashby BART, and conveniently close to the UC Berkeley Campus!
The large, spacious, brown-shingled homes along Allston, Bancroft, Channing, and Dwight ways remain. Densely populated, the neighborhood contains some of the city's oldest homes.
South Berkeley is a mix of students, longtime residents, businesses, and homes. The major thoroughfares are Telegraph Avenue, Bancroft Way, and Alcatraz Avenue, where street vendors, bookstores, record shops, and inexpensive eateries cater to students. Nightlife is abundant, thanks to the proximity to campus, Zellerbach Hall, and Downtown Berkeley.
Both the Ashby and Downtown Berkeley BART stations serve the neighborhood, as do a number of Alameda-Contra Costa Transit buses, making it a snap to get to downtown San Francisco, local airports, sports stadiums, and other locations in the Bay Area.
This home is located on a peaceful, tree-lined residential street, yet the Berkeley Bowl, a world-famous food mecca, is just two blocks away!
Close to the Elmwood neighborhood and the great shops along College Avenue. Plus, this is a great neighborhood for biking--Walkscore.com gives this area a perfect score of 100.
About Us:
The cottage is on a shared property. It is in the backyard of our home. The entrance runs along side the main house, and there is a yard on the side of the cottage which is used by the main house.
We are a family of five, with children ranging in ages from 6-15. We also have three dogs. In a nutshell, there are times of the day and week which are quiet and serene, and also days and times when our yard may be active with kids and dogs (more so dogs than kids ).
* Photos are from when the house was staged, house will be empty upon rental
