I went to Daniel Boone my freshman year and was in their MCJROTC and it really increased my school experience. The school itself is pretty awful. Teachers didn't really care about teaching you, they just wanted to get TN Ready over with and get you out of their class. I want to encourage you, that if you have to go to Boone than be in JROTC, it will enhance your experiences at Boone. You will grow in leadership.

This is not a great school is your child has disabilities. We struggled to have my child's IEP followed. The principal was *celebrating* when we moved. She refused to let us stay at the school, which is school board policy, BECAUSE OF MY SON'S DISABILITIES. She also used absences as a reason. Every one was medically excused, and he had so many appointments.......because of his disability. By the end of the year, the office "didn't receive" two notes from the Dr. I had them faxed twice so they couldn't miss them ...still went missing. I know one other mother very well that took legal action against the school for the same reason, and I've heard plenty of other mothers dissatisfied with the treatment of their children with disabilities. My child is now thriving at his new school, so it's been a blessing in disguise. However, it was very hard on him to switch school, and especially hard on his brother who did nothing wrong. They were the 4th generation in our family to attend Gray, and this was INCREDIBLY disappointing. Keep a very close eye out of your child is disabled. We did have one amazing teacher there who helped him get the help he needed all through 1st grade. Forever grateful to her. Thank you.

As a semi recent graduate, I loved the school. It pushed me to be more passionate about my own education and prepared me well for college. This school gives you the opportunity to be involved at a higher level of education. I could dual enroll and take AP classes that pushed me to pursue higher education. One thing I would have liked is more funding in extracurriculars.
