I have 2 children at Hawthorne, and our experience could not be better. When transferred from a private school in Chicago, our oldest was struggling to keep up with her classmates due to a learning disability. Within 3 months of attending Hawthorne, she was exceeding classroom averages and thriving. We have loved every teacher we have had. They are creative and caring. The parent community is friendly and involved.

Sent two kids through Sandburg with a mix of experience. Neither came away feeling that they were prepared for what awaited them in high school. Good school if your child is straight down the fairway. Would not advise if your child has any emotional or social challenges or your looking for a parent school partnership.

The snobbiness and elitism so rampant in the city of Elmhurst unfortunately carries over to York High School. The school is so huge, many students falll through the cracks. Like the city of Elmhurst, the school also wants to maintain an appearance of perfection and superiority, very ugly attitude.
