As an educational consultant with 30 years of experience and the parent of two boys who graduated from Carrie Palmer Weber Middle School, I could not be more impressed with the school. Professionally and personally, I have seen what excellent middle level education looks like, and Weber embodies it.The teachers are caring, attentive, and deeply skilled. They do not simply deliver lessons. They cultivate curiosity and invite students into real dialogue. My boys learned how to ask good questions, challenge ideas respectfully, and support their thinking with evidence. Differentiation is not an add on here. Teachers adjust instruction, provide timely feedback, and make space for every learner to grow at an appropriate pace.The administration is truly student centered. They know children by name, not number, and they invest in the whole child. I saw thoughtful decisions around course placement, enrichment, and support, always anchored in what would help each student thrive. Communication with families is clear and proactive, and the leadership team manages the school with steadiness and care. As someone who has worked with many schools, I can say their oversight of teaching and learning is excellent.Weber also understands that education extends beyond the classroom. Extracurriculars, clubs, service opportunities, and the arts are encouraged and well run. This gives students pathways to connect with peers, discover new interests, and participate in a welcoming community that reflects the diversity of Port Washington. My boys found activities that matched their strengths and also tried new ones, which built confidence and empathy.Most important, Weber prepared my sons to excel at Schreiber High School and beyond. They entered high school ready for rigorous coursework, equipped with strong study habits, clear writing, and real problem solving skills. They knew how to advocate for themselves, collaborate with classmates, and manage their time. Our experience with Paul D Schreiber Senior High School has been outstanding. The curriculum is rigorous, and the AP course offerings are extensive, preparing students exceptionally well for college. The teachers are highly knowledgeable and genuinely care about each student’s success, while the guidance counselors are incredibly dedicated, truly getting to know each student and helping them find the best path forward. Extracurricular activities are vibrant, with an amazing variety of clubs, sports, and the band, fostering a thriving social life and well-rounded development. The school community is welcoming, hardworking, and focused on what truly matters in education—not just chasing the latest trends. The commitment to enhancing the lives of their students is evident in every aspect of the school's environment. The new principal has done a great job of reaching out to parents and making families feel involved in their child's education. The staff overall are extremely pleasant, friendly and treat the children like their own. The encouragement and teaching standard is very high - my son comes home asking very interesting questions and has dramatically improved his reading ability.

This school is far greater than it is described in many of the comments. Minority students used to be bullied, but now they get much help from teachers or other faculty members, and also from peer students. Teachers are great and the courses offered are excellent. However, some students tend not to welcome newcomers, especially when they are foreigners or English learners. If you are one of them, you may be hit by your shoulder, mocked, or excluded from your classmates for no reason. If anything happens, I recommend going to any ENL teachers, or the principal. Nowadays, the faculty members are highly aware of racism which is unfortunately still going on in the community, and they are willing to resolve the problem.

Excellent school, friendly principal and teachers who care about students. The building is lovely too.
