"It depends on what part of oildale you live in and the parks are clean kids play you get some mean kids here and their but over all everyone gets along with everyone "
  • Floresleandro117
"You have to pick the right because all parts of oildale are different I live in neighborhood that everyone keeps to themselves and it’s calm for the most part i wouldn’t let my kids walk down the street by themselves."
  • Juarezd14
"Lots of stray dogs & homeless in the area. Would not recommend walking your dog. Would go to a dog park in the south west and or Rosedale "
  • Kailee Dawn
"Kids play in the street And cars drive way too fast something needs to be done and we have street lights to keep our kids safe "
  • Ryan R.
"Our community has an average commute to work, groceries and freeway access. Usually not busy with a major thoroughfare located only minutes away. "
  • Ryan R.
"No public transportation. You have to travel in order to meet public transportation. unless you have an Uber. "
  • Ryan R.
"There's only a few neighbors that actually walk their dogs....but every time they are leashed. Dog owners are courteous. "
  • Trulia User
"It is a quite area but does have some sketchy people walking around sometimes. It’s important for parents to know what their children are up to if visiting the parks or out and about. "
  • Kiohla T.
"I have lived here for a long time and its OK, but I want to live somewhere better. I would a place that my nieces can run around without being hurt or kidnapped, and the dogs can run around freely."
  • Laporcha H.
"The neighborhood has a lot of perverts here watch your kids. It’s not as bad as it seems but the ppl is friendly "
  • Shari_fein
"There are no community events in my neighborhood There is a lot of pedestrian traffic There are a lot of drugs in the area "
  • Mgarcia9109
"There are plenty of GET bus stops here. There are a lot of walking distance stores. People are very friendly on my part of the neighborhood."
  • Erinnlyons83
"not sure of any events I work alot and dont really know of any events and I keep to myself as well "
  • Rebecca P.
"I've lived here for one year and have already experienced theft from my front porch. large homeless and drug abusing population"
  • Carol S.
"people do not like owners letting their dogs wander. Not keeping the dogs confined. my neighbors are very considerate and responsible pet owners."
  • David C.
"not sure don't see a lot of dogs in the neighborhood and the ones I do see are chained up or locked up in a yard. "
  • Nanadebbie
"Lots of families, nearby parks, dog friendly and feels safe north of Norris Road. Neighborhood is clean and well kept. "
  • Claudia C.
"It’s like any neighborhood. Where I’m at everyone takes pretty good care of the home and yards, but a couple streets over they don’t seem to care to much how there home and yard looks. I don’t notice as many dogs running loose as I see teenagers and young adults."
  • David C.
"I drive myself everywhere I go so I don't need public transportation and it's easy to get around town "
  • Kendra C.
"Dogs are always being stolen from peoples yards by the homeless, and there are a lot of strays that may get aggressive with your dog(s) if you take them on walks."
  • Luis A.
"You’d probably be fighting off other dogs or trying to chase your dog after it’s started chasing a random stray cat. "
  • Lorrimead
"i live in gated apartments, very nice and safe pet friendly. public transportation and very clean. closeto shopping and clise to my job"
  • Larry B.
"Watch your kids and don’t leave things out for the thief’s to steal. Lots of great families live in Oildale but also slot of homeless and tweeters"
  • Mosermaranda
"The schools are some of the most underperforming in Bakersfield, the parks are overran by homeless, the drug abusers will steal anything they can get their hands on (including my front porch bench and my lawn sprinkler.) The streets are like an obstacle course between avoiding pot holes and pedestrians running out in front of you. The rent is cheap though, so that’s cool. "
  • Jose M.
"There is a lot of strays all over this town. People do not take care of their dogs as they should. "
  • Clflores23864
"Although there is great public transportation close by, I drive my own car.. my kids walk freely throughout this community, it is safe, quiet and clean"
  • Ashlinaa066
"nothing really...there are a little high rate of crimes and it’s always scary to go out at dark. there are tweakers everywhere"
  • Wendi B.
"I've lived here for awhile now and so far I haven't had any problems. I've liked most of my neighbors."
  • Jlhumecky2010
"It has gotten busier over the years, but the stop lights put up around my neighborhood have helped immensely. "
  • Karen S.
"There’s better places to live. Some nights you hear guns going off. Property is messed with daily. This isn’t as nice of a community as it use to be back in the day it’s unfortunate to witness. "
  • Nadegia I.
"I wish it was cheaper either places cause i can't stand this place. its crime is bad the heat is horrible."
  • shawna
"lots of tweakers everywhere! some good people but spread out and few and far berween! ALOT of thieves. better parts of neighborhood is north of China grade loop."
  • Jessica J.
"The people are less neighborly and they have road rage in this area. Pan handlers are always lurking, dogs are always lose. Crime and drug rate high in the area."
  • Don Cleveland
"We have an amazing neighborhood, people care and watch out for each other, am Blessed to live here, very safe and maintained well"
  • Kim
"My husband love this area. The only issue we have had is when the weather gets warm they go through ours vehicles. So make sure I keep them lock. We don’t keep nothing of value in the vehicles so we do t worry a lot about it. Where we live most of the homes are rentals and they take pride in keep the grass cut. It’s funny the homeowners that live I. There home here let there yard go. Great area to live."
  • Desarie S.
"The tweekers. You’re never alone there is always one behind a tree or in a dumpster if you don’t check inside of your vehicle before you get into it you might surprise one. Usually nice people just want some money or a candy bar and if you have it just give it to them you will make a friend and always know the business in the neighborhood 😂"
  • Joe Y.
"There aren’t any that’s I aware of. Nor have I seen any or herd of anything going on. I grew up in this area my whole life. "
  • Shelby L.
"i have lived here for about 6 years and most of the time i like it the people are friendly but i wouldn't consider this a "nice" neighborhood "
  • Cassandra R.
"Roberts lane & central ave by dollar general it all right over here sometimes it get a little off the chain then some times it quite it deoends on the day of the month the first week and sometime till 15 th it get wild "
  • Vonsillywilly
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 8 yrs now and it’s not a good place to live people walking around talking to them selfs yelling at the voices in their own heads drugs are a big part of why the neighbors are out at all times of the night talking and playing music"
