The administration seems more focused on enforcing pointless rules than actually supporting students. Teachers are hit or miss—some genuinely care, but many just seem burned out or uninterested. Communication is terrible, especially when it comes to grades or important updates. The mental health resources are basically non-existent, and the school culture overall feels toxic and cliquey. If you're expecting support, creativity, or growth here, lower your expectations. A lot needs to change. Unfortunately, my experience with Principal Jeff McMurry was disappointing. From the start, their attitude came across as arrogant and dismissive. Rather than fostering a welcoming and respectful environment, he often speaks in a condescending tone, making both students and parents feel unheard and undervalued. A principal should lead by example—showing respect, humility, and care for the school community—but that was not what I witnessed at Longmont High School.

Last year the PE coach was telling little girls that he can see where they live by going into the records and then the next day not only my daughter but he told a couple other little girls why do you sit in your room like that I could see you through your window and they still let him work there all it is is my daughter has to stay away from him and she got a a last year I don't think this man should be around any children.

This school used to be one of the best in Longmont. Since the new principal came on board in 2019, she has ruined Sanborn’s good reputation and status. I had to buy the text books to help my kids with their learning. Communication from the principal and teachers is awful. Major instances happened and no communication was sent from the school to let parents know what had happened and the course of action would be taken. Teachers weekly newsletters are too cutesy and confusing, full of acronyms and no helpful information that a parent could use to work with their kid(s) at home. Behavior issues are not addressed at all. My children asked if they could go to another school because they were so miserable with behavioral problems impacting their ability to learn and play. They use communal punishment so good kids are not inclined to behave because they get in trouble as a class regardless of whether they’re good or bad.
