Beautiful 1001 sq feet semi-furnished apartment located in the heart of downtown Berkeley, 15mn away from UC Berkeley campus on foot, in a very pleasant, quiet and green condominium lot. The apartment has 3 bedrooms (one of which, smaller, was converted from a small den) and 2 bathrooms, plus a large sunny patio to eat and relax in. It is equipped with a washer and dryer, a dishwasher and a microwave. The living room couch opens into a comfortable sofa bed. The flat is offered semi-furnished and would be perfect for a couple, or a family with one or two children. The condo community is a scholarly one, composed mainly of UC Berkeley faculty and staff members. The lot offers a playground for the children (plus a beautiful main lawn and a common room which can be used for large parties) and great tranquility for the adults. The condo is close to the YMCA (10 mn walk) as well as to the shops, restaurants and movie theaters of downtown Berkeley. The closest supermarket (Trader Joe's) is less than 10 mn away on foot, 2mn by car. The Monterey Market is a 20mn walk or a 7mn bike ride. The apartment is also only a 10mn stroll from the downtown Berkeley BART, from where public transportation connects you to San Francisco (30mn) and most of the Bay Area. The apartment is free from November 15 or so, 2020 to August 15, 2021 and could also be available during all of 2021-2022 (until the fall of 2022). The apartment is equipped very high-speed internet and WIFI throughout (SONIC wifi). The rent is negotiable, depending on the length of the stay. Please note however that we anticipate that the rent in the second year of the rental would be higher if and only if, however, we have effectively stepped out of the pandemic by then. The usual rent for this flat in the years prior to the current pandemic has been $3300. Although we have received *a lot of requests* in the last week, the rent will remain at $2700 per month in 2020-2021. However, the initial deposit will be $2700 (rather than the $1500 initially posted) and the only utility covered by us will be the refuse bill. *All other expenses (PG&E, SONIC wifi, and EBMUD) will be for our renters to pay out of their own pocket*, though all the utilities will remain in our name (the increased deposit is therefore also meant to cover any default on the utilities). IMPORTANT: One free parking space is available for the tenant. Off-street parking is also amply available. A $150 cleaning fee will be added at the end of the stay.
