We love P.S. 84! It has exceeded our expectations with its small class sizes and exceptional teachers. Every teacher our child had was terrific. It would be amiss to not give a special shout out to Mrs. Scarpa who had our son for two years. She stood out for her kindness and intelligence, making school both enjoyable and meaningful for students. She not only supports academic growth but also instills a love for school in her students (and a sense of family in the classroom!!), leaving a lasting positive influence that extends beyond the classroom. Mrs. Scarpa truly made a difference in child’s lives and I don’t know how we’re going to handle middle school without her!

This school is great at helping students learn and prepare with many optional and other sources you can go to so you can study extra. Most of the teachers are nice but there will always be one bad one each year in my experience, to the point where students will all agree that having class with them is bad. The school also is pretty good at stopping REPORTED bullying and does take action from the times I have seen. However it does have 3 noticeable issues which the first being their are a good handful of bad students who just do whatever they want and the teachers can’t really stop them but this isn’t that big of a issue since all schools have bad kids. Next the cafeteria is incredibly dirty to a point where you can’t ignore it if you have later period lunch at 6th or 7th due to the fact that they are unable to clean after periods but this is mostly the students faults in all the grades and only effects half of the students that have later lunch . Lastly and the biggest issue is the academy system. This system spreads out students into multiple academies with different deans and people controlling them for management. This is fun but the real problem is the fact that academy’s are very spread out. If you have a friend in another academy it is almost impossible to see them due to them being on a completely different floor and their being only around 8 school events were academy’s combine per year. Let’s say I’m in academy A with my friend but when 8th grade comes around me and my friend could be separated between academy C and D essentially breaking up the friendship and this can cause problems if you get unlucky and all your friend are in a different academy. This happened to me but I just made new friends which some kids might not be able to. But in conclusion the school is good most of the time it just has some flaws but I would still say it’s good.

Do not recommend this school if you want to your child to go somewhere or be something if you don’t care then send them here
