5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHere is an overall review of the middle school in most subjects for any parent looking to enroll their child to sunrise park middle school: SPMS Is a pretty good middle school but could use a few fixes to make anything more than that. The learning at sunrise, although we miraculously test above state averages, still could use a heavy increase. Many parts of the english and science curriculum are carried over from previous years of middle or elementary school (depending on the student's year). The school's math & social studies curriculum is structured quite well and fits almost every student's needs through enriched or accelerated class options. As I am only in orchestra, I will only speak on behalf of the orchestra program when I say that it is very well structured and executed for all participants. When you go into the teachers for all subjects and counselors, they the greatest even though they are given some students who aren't the greatest to say the least. The students at this school, although the majority are friendly and good people, there is still quite the number of bad eggs in each grade which the school is not handling properly in the slightest. The repeated offenders do not get the punishment they deserved, as either favoritism is bestowed upon them, or the disciplinary officers are too busy or tired to deal with them properly. Their rules are not only written to disfavor any good student, but also are borderline unconstitutional at times. If a student is struck by a peer, they are not allowed to strike back, they are supposed to go to an aforementioned disciplinary officer to solve the issue, even if they are getting the snot beat out of them. The unconstitutional pert of the rules is a direct quote from the student handbook. "Students who knowingly withhold information about a school policy violation may be subject to school discipline." Freedom of speech also gives you freedom not to speak, which is a constitutional right. That right is being blatantly violated in this rule as you will be punished for not spilling the beans if there was an infraction of the rules. The school is an overall safe space though. It has relatively nice students with plentiful emotional and mental health support resources.NOTE AFTER READING THIS REVIEW: I am a current 8th grade student, and this school can always change for better or for worse in the future. If your kid is well behaved and doesn't lock heads with other students, they wont have any issues here.Student Review3y ago7 Reviews - Lakeaires Elementary School

"Public transportation is within a block or two of everyone’s house. I don’t use it often, so I don’t really know how much time is involved. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the furthest place you could go in Minneapolis/St. Paul from here by car. Suburbs, maybe 45. Most things you need for errand are within 15 minutes."

"I have lived in this area for 1 month now and I feel very confident walking my dog. There are a lot of dog owners in the area. But people don’t say hello on the street when you meet them. For a small neighborhood, I would think it would be friendlier. "
