This nearly new home is within walking distance of Park Street shopping, new movie theater, new library, many restaurants, and Alameda High School.

The home was originally a Northern Pacific Train Station in San Francisco that was brought over on a barge in 1906 and placed on a large 7,000 square foot lot on Encinal Avenue, here on Alameda.

I purchased the home in 2004 and spent four years and approximately $300,000.00 expanding and updating it, while retaining its original historic character. This home was built with efficiency in mind. The use of a gas powered high efficiency forced air home heater, tank-less water heater, new efficient appliances, insulation, and skylights assure low utility bills. The large 4' by 4' skylights bring in allot of natural light throughout the day, eliminating the need for electric lighting in most rooms, including two 2x4 skylights in the attic.

All work done by permit and to code.

3 Bedrooms, 2.5 baths.

Skylights and high ceilings created very bright rooms.

All doors and windows have custom molding.

Crown molding and base molding throughout.

Restoration Hardware fixtures.

Kohler plumbing fixtures.

Painted in neutral colors inside and out.

Hardwood floors (Australian Cypress 3/4 inch thick).

New carpeting in all three bedrooms.

High efficiency Jeld-Wen windows (Double-pane, Argon Gas filled).

Good storage in large well lit attic (Two 2' X 4'skylights bring in allot of natural light).

New sewer lateral.

New one inch water main.

New gas line.

New drain line.
Automatic gas earthquake cutoff switch installed.

The custom kitchen has stainless steel appliances (Gas stove and oven, microwave-vent combination over stove, refrigerator (side by side), with filtered water and ice maker, dishwasher and custom breakfast bar with matching seating).

Tank-less Noritz Unlimited Hot water system-Gas.

High Efficiency home heating system-Gas.

New foundation and all plumbing (gas, water, drain lines).

All new complete electrical system.

Water and gas lines at rear of house for possible outdoor kitchen.

Master suite with walk in closet, French door leading to very large redwood deck. Master bath has a Jacuzzi tub, large 2-head rain shower, custom Travertine tile, new custom 3/8" glass door and panels, linen closet, granite topped sink base and Kohler toilet.

Bedroom 2 has a walk in closet

Bedroom 3 is the smallest of the three and has a beautiful half bath with pocket door, Kohler pedestal sink and toilet, granite floor, wainscoting, and good closet. It would make a good office or guest bedroom.

Bedrooms all have Hampton ceiling fans with integrated lighting.

Earthquake resistant Strong Wall bolted into trusses and foundation in walk in closet in bedroom 2.

Lights with dimmer switches throughout.

Large private, completely fenced 7,000 sq ft lot with lemon tree, plum tree, and pine tree with room for swimming pool, pond, etc.

Very large separate 2+ car redwood garage with new roof and stained glass side door, new underground electrical service and motion sensitive light with halogen bulbs.

All new concrete driveway, parking and turn around pad, and garage floor.

Excellent off street parking (room for 2 cars in garage and 2+ on parking pad) Also, there is a long driveway leading to the yard.

6 foot high custom Cedar fence with large locking gate (very private and secure, great for pets and children).

Separate gated recycling and trash container area.
Stained glass front door with Baldwin Lockset.

White picket fence around front yard with new cement walkway to front porch.

New sod front and rear lawns with automatic underground sprinkler system.

"Lovely architecture to admire while walking the dog. Nearby parks and beaches are only 6 blocks away. Downside is that dogs aren’t allowed on the sand but you can walk on the sidewalks overlooking the water. Hardly any traffic so the streets are quiet. People with dogs give other dogs lots of space. Rare to see dog waste not cleaned up-though it happens. "
  • Trulia User
"sensor lights should be place on all areas of your house to deter anyone from coming if they are not invited to visit. and a alarm if they are to close to the house or apt."
  • Trulia User
"There are many people walking their dogs in the neighborhood. There are also 2 off leash dog parks on the island. "
  • Ali L.
"I feel safe walking my dogs at any time of the day or night. There are lots of dogs but owners are respectful."
  • Hvlaity
"Very easy to commute to work in Oakland and drive to San Francisco on the weekends. Also easy to grab groceries and run errands in the area "
  • Hyejin
"I meet several dog owners everyday when I walked with kids. They are happy to walk with dogs and smile at me and greeting friendly "
  • Susan K.
"20 minutes into the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland - morning commute. Evening commute can be 35 minutes."
  • Trulia User
"I am not sure what to say here. I moved here in March 2019 and I am so happy living in such a place. I love that I can walk to the beach, and walk along the bay and see San Francisco in the distance."
  • Courtney G.
" This neighborhood has parks and schools within walking distances. I often see parents walking with their kids"
  • Tanita M.
"I’ve only been living here for a month now and I’m very happy about the walkability around here. I’ve been living in Tx for the past 5 years living in the burbs right outside Houston where there’s no public transportation, sidewalks, bike lanes etc. Tx isn’t pedestrian friendly at all so it’s good being back in CA."
  • Trulia User
"Friendly: older neighbors are welcoming to younger owners moving in. Slowly gentrifying (younger generation Alameda born are moving out). Lots of younger renters (30-40) too."
  • Orange Crow
"It’s awesome! I live right on a lagoon and I have a kayak I take out on it. The beach is 3 blocks and Park St is a 15 min walk. Super safe and neighborhood is friendly. Flat and great for biking and running. Traffic is better here than most places in Bay. I take a ferry to SF for work which is a wonderful way to commute. Love it!"
  • Markvasquez95
"it's a busy street that connects to everything . i can easily get to where i wanna get to on the bus and the neighborhood is very quiet. "
  • Cceres
"Life slows down once you cross the Alameda town line. Community feel and only a ferry ride away from San Francisco. "
  • Patrice A.
"Alameda is a family friendly city that does not like speeders. We have great food and people don't like to leave the island u less they must. it was beautiful bike paths."
  • Feliciasmoore
"I've lived in this neighborhood for 9 years. The area is quiet and clean. There is a regular police presence. Rent is very high though."
  • Guy B.
"Alameda's close proximity to San Francisco makes it convenient to Silicon Valley too, but at a fraction of the price. Super cute older homes and a close knit neighborhood feel is felt throughout the island. We don't have cross traffic being an island which gives us an identity like no other city in the entire San Francisco metropolitan area. As for the city itself, Alameda is safe, has good schools, is charming quaint, and quiet with plenty of shops, restaurants, movie theatre, walking and bike trails. I've lived all over the bay area and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else but Alameda."
  • William
"I OWN A PLACE AROUND THE COURNER SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS ARE LOOKING TO BUY HERE. LIVE IN ONE UNIT WHILE RENTING THE OTHERS. WE HAVE COFFE SHOPS, SMALL GROCERIE STORE, MOVIE THEATER, RESTRAUNT'S, ALAMEDA MUSEUM, PUBLIC TENNIS COURT'S ALL WITH IN A SHORT WALKING DISTANCE "
