"There are not many dog friendly areas. There is a dog park but it is usually vacant. Dog park does have a big area for your dog to play in though. "
  • Trulia User
"This is a good community to live in, it is peaceful. it is away from the loud city and houses are spread out so it feels like you are alone and at peace."
  • Trulia User
"walking distance to Texas state University and a safe and quiet place to live *************************************************************************"
  • Trulia User
"nice area for getting a little further from the bustle of the small town. about 8 minutes from the square and the river. nice little play area for kids. small neighborhood. "
  • Trulia User
"It’s geto over here don’t come if you want a cheap place to live and not own the property this is where you should look if you want drug dealers selling dope and herion down the street and have people come atleast 5 to 9 cars a night buying drugs every night "
  • PJ
"lots of local activities, outdoor hiking, water, Texas state is close, schools, shopping, BBQ, restaurants, all close. love this area"
  • Trulia User
"No neighborhood traffic. Multiple options for exiting the neighborhood. Easy access to highway. Friendly neighbors. "
  • Trulia User
"The neighborhood is on the outskirts of town so there’s no public transportation. Ride shares are available if needed. Elementary and high school are in walking distance and a dollar general is close also if needed. "
  • Trulia User
"Neighborhood garage sales. Neighborhood Watch Neighborhood Night out Community Pool Party Holiday Christmas Lights"
  • Trulia User
"Nice neighborhood. Make sure to join the neighborhood Facebook page! This helps you feel more connected. The pond is our favorite! "
  • Chris
"I've lived in this beautiful historic neighborhood for 20 years and it's lovely. Safe and within walking distance to everything we love downtown, river, Texas State University. "
  • Jay
"Dog owners often do not leash their dogs. Lots of college students have dogs run out of their house into the street. Too many dog owners do not pick up after their dog and will leave poop on your yard. Dog park is 5 minutes away: nighttime is the busiest time. "
  • Jana P. G.
"I have lived here for over a year and I truly believe it’s one of the best places I’ve ever lived. You can walk into a forest from your house. If I were buying a house here I would feel completely satisfied. The people are very respectful and yet friendly, but not too much. It’s very quiet yet there are plenty of children here. "
  • Angela W.
"This is a quiet and quaint little pocket with a great mix of city and country! I bought my first home here and my kids can walk to school since we are so close. Halloween is packed with all kinds of people and it’s so much fun. The park in the neighborhood is always clean and maintained. I love it here!"
  • Shawanna R.
"People walk dogs often here and the community is very dog-friendly. If dogs get lost, people pitch in to help find them. Very friendly neighbors with pets, almost everyone has dogs and cats. "
  • Trulia User
"Everyone walks their dogs on leash and are aware of their surroundings at all times. Everyone is friendly. "
  • Angela W.
"We have meetings at the park to discuss any changes or events in the neighborhood and this is the place for trick or treating! "
  • Annie G.
"We live in the new neighborhood by the Toyota dealership and it’s really nice. There is a community recreation area with a pool and our own elementary school. "
  • Jennifer
"i constantly see people walking their dogs. there is also a dog park in the neighborhood. lots of roads to walk dogs on."
  • Nicolas T.
"The city of San Marcos has lots of events and things to do all year round. Fireworks on 4th of July, summer concerts, winter festival and more. "
  • Chelsea C.
"a few people do not keep their dogs in their own yards, unfortunately. other than that, it’s mostly shady. lots of squirrels. mostly small yard but its better than keeping your dog cooped up in an apartment!"
  • Vmarqz79
"The neighborhood is calm. People keep to their own and are friendly. Close to stores and recreations"
  • Pattysoptical
"it's a great neighborhood to live in. The neighborhood is within walking distance of texas state university. "
  • Callie
"What makes my neighborhood so unique is probably the fact that we’re so close to Prospect Park and great walking/hiking trails. "
  • Richard O.
"One that tends to really get everyone out is national night out. It’s a ton of fun and you get to meet all the neighbors you either don’t know or haven’t seen in a while. "
  • Theuglymole
"it's a college town not very many kids around. I rarely see parents walking with their kids in the streets. best advice move to a different town with less hobos walking around the area. "
  • Evonne5876
"it's a great neighborhood and beautiful also. lots of animals running around though. feels safe and calm."
  • Amy D. M.
"I’m not a parent, but I do notice that the street/s like Hopkins and San Antonio are very traffic heavy and drivers do not, typically, adhere to the speed limit."
  • Tyrone L
"I love how safe I feel living on Sycamore St. I have the most caring and wonderful neighbors. My kids are able to play outside and ride their bikes without worry. "
  • Judy
"I moved here to retire with my husband because it is AMAZING...the perfect location. The river is a five minute walk away and is so beautiful and peaceful. I can't say enough great things about this safe and wonderful neighborheook. It just doesn't get better than this!"
  • Teresa A
"I’ve lived on Sycamore Street for 3 years. We love everything about this neighborhood! It's the best location ever, lots of friendly people, and lots of good restaurants close by. I always feel safe here as well. I love that I can walk my dog morning or night! "
  • Ralphalar
"The commute is fairly easy. Quick access to Highway 35 and Guadalupe Street would you go straight to downtown"
  • Jason O.
"river access, university access, heb access, laundrymat access, cool people with laid back demeanors, security in neighbors"
  • Nikki
"pretty good. 3 different routes to get to and from town/I35. Traffic isnt bad in the neighborhood. Lots of cars parked on the roadway, which can be annoying, but otherwise fine."
  • Lillee_leah
"I have only lived here since July so I don’t know It very well can’t say much about it but there are a lot of college students "
