10/10 I learned I lived I was loved

We love Greene County Schools!! The leadership is great and the teachers and staff are patient, kind, and wonderful.

My daughter has attended this school for the past 2 years and they have grown her from a fourth grade reading level to an eleventh grade level in that time. I couldn't be more pleased with her progress. She will be taking her first EOGs next week and she feels very prepared and excited to show what she has learned. I'm very pleased with how West Greene has worked with my daughter for these two years.

As a whole I would have to rate this school at a 1 star, but there are a FEW staff members there that I would rate 5 stars. My son started there last year and it has been somewhat of a nightmare and a disappointment. There seems to be a serious lack of communication between staff and parents except basic things such as reminders about teacher workdays and sports try-outs. A total of zero parent conferences last year, I guess I could have requested one but considering that my son's grades and progress were consistently low I would have thought a teacher would have reached out to me. Almost every communication had to be initiated by me. Parents were rarely if ever made aware of tests dates (excluding EOGs) etc. so they could help their student prepare/study at home.There are fights almost daily, and the bullying at this school seems out of control. Last year my sons along with all other students in his grade had to change all their teachers in October because of staffing issues, which is unfortunate, but it was tough on the kids. To make matters worse he went from having an excellent teacher for one of his core classes to having a long term sub for that core subject instead. I'd like to note this long term sub wasn't some retired teacher or someone with educational experience. This man sat at his desk everyday, all day, pointed to the board when students walked in and told them to do assignments listed on the board. Those assignments were created by another teacher. It was up to my child to teach himself the lesson and then do the learning activity on his own. During this classtime this long term sub had NO CONTROL over his students they would run wild in the classrooms playing, dancing, talking loudly etc.. Also another one of my son's core teachers (math) quit in the middle of the year (she told students she was going to work in a casino). A teacher replaced her but he was an athletic coach he passed out one worksheet to do as a class before lunch and after lunch was free time. I only have a few characters left so Ill wrap this up, but I think the problem is the head of the snake -The Principal Dianne Blackmon. She always has an expression on her face and tone in her voice that constantly screams she doesnt want to be there. Her actions show this as well. She actually had the nerve to say to me, "I dont know whats wrong with your son maybe he needs some professional help" all because he was constantly being bullied and was struggling with it.

We thought this school was wonderful when enrolling our child until we noticed things over time. Several staff members have overstepped boundaries! At first we thought they were wanting to help in a helpful manner because that’s how it comes off as at first but I have been disrespected many times as a parent!
