My child just started in this school a few months ago. We transferred from a local school district. I heard so much about West Point being such a great school district so we were extremely excited! However my child cries constantly about returning to this school. My child has had issues with other students, but the problem has yet to be resolved. They’ve described the environment as very strict and the curriculum is harder but they’re given less help during regular classroom hours, made to figure things out themselves—not considering the fact that some children learn differently and that some children have learning delays—they may not be as strong as their peers. My child also stated that the feel as if they faculty at the school doesn’t care. My child is constantly saying how they want to return to their old school. A few other things to note the high school is absolutely phenomenal. The bus driver on my child’s route is rude and mean—extremely rude. The middle school offers no basketball and there is no drama club either. They do offer after school remediation at the elementary, middle, and high school which is a plus. However my child is struggling and it breaks my heart!

As a current student of West Point High, I can describe it with one word: excellent. Excellent academics, arts, extracurriculars, staff, and athletics. The town is responsive to the school's needs, so if we have a project we want to do, we can ask the town for support. We have the opportunity to learn from teachers who are passionate about what they teach, and we can do it in a pleasant environment. The standards are high at West Point, and the students are often involved in many extracurriculars, learning time management and prioritizing along the way. West Point has excellent chorus and band programs, so if you or your student is musical, West Point is a nurturing environment for them to develop their talents. My family moved to town so my brother and I could attend West Point schools. If you are considering sending your student to West Point, I encourage you to take the next step and contact our guidance counselor.
