  • Trulia User
"there are a lot of dogs in this area. main roads have lights and sidewalks but they are lacking on the side streets. close parks "
  • Trulia User
"there are nice parks less than 1 mile away. people drive way too fast through the neighborhoods so we've always been worried about our kids playing out front our riding their bikes - especially without sidewalks in our neighborhood. transients and people being released from jail walk our street daily. we've had several items stolen from our vehicles. neighbors are friendly, mostly families. "
  • Trulia User
"there aren't enough streetlights in this area to walk your dog at night. sidewalks are hit or miss and not well maintained. I see several people walking their dogs daily though and there are nearby parks."
  • Trulia User
"Nice mix of young, old, conservative, liberal, independent, et. There’ll be at least one person to get along with."
  • Trulia User
"I haven’t seen any dogs loose or running around. The school fields are close by. There are sidewalks. "
  • Julene T.
"Great place to raise kids. Schools are good and community really supports everyone. I believe it is a safe place to ride bikes and visit the local parks. Love the river and the downtown shopping area. We also have a carousel that the kids love to ride. The train depot offers tickets north and south to visit Seattle to Los Angeles . It is the best place to live."
  • Tunneljak

"I love my neighborhood. it's quiet and the people are really friendly and great place to raise kids. pet friendly parks and easy to get to trails."
  • jennifer s.
"Albany has a lot of parks, some great schools and a fantastic library. There are many things for families to do outdoors and plenty of kid friendly places to go within an hour of Albany. The beach is just over an hour West of us. As with most of the PNW homelessness is a problem and it's more noticeable because this is a small town. Violent crime is low, property crime is higher and that's directly correlated to the drug problems some Albany residents face. This is a great place for involved parents to raise their kids. Just like everywhere else, as long as you're aware of everything your kids are doing, and who their friends are, and there's open communication, this is a wonderful place to put down roots."
