Grinnell-Wheatland schools are extraordinary. This page has a very misleading rating for this district as it does not accurately measure averages due to the school having such a small student population. My daughter's class is the largest in the entire district. There are 18 students in her class. The next largest class has 14 students. 12 is a basic average. These are grade level totals, not classroom sizes. I believe there are around 50 students between grades 5-8. These numbers are typical district wide and have been for decades. My graduating class had 10. The student/teacher ratio is a dream come true and provides kids with a better opportunity to thrive. The rating is very inaccurate. Based on my experience there as a child and my own child's experiences, I'd have to say it's at least an 8.5/10. It's a far sight better than the next nearest district which is about 3 times the size and somehow rates higher. I pulled my child from our home district to transfer her into Grinnell-Wheatland schools because our home district (274) was an epic failure, especially with my daughter's IEP. This site does not lend justice to G-W schools and is disheartingly inept at obtaining accurate information for rural schools.
