I am a parent of a child that was in the school last year that had the same principal that is now the new principal at Coker-Wimberly. Many student and staff left the school that was under that person's care. This principal was not very involved in helping the students or staff sort out any issues they had regarding bullying or anything else for that matter. That is putting it in the nicest terms I can manage at this time. Before this person came to that school it was one of the highest ranked elementary schools in Edgecombe county NC. My son and many other children were bullied at that school and when I looked for help that principal made light of the situation, laughed and joked at one point, and did not do much of anything to help. The principal often times even avoided me when I needed a meeting and help for my child. The quality of the school went down as did the staff and students moral due to the poor management of the principle. I wish the students, staff, and parents better luck than we had last year! Hopefully that principal will do a better job or move on to a lesser position that would not require action, hard work, and caring about people.

I attended EECHS from the years 2014-2019, and the school was nothing short of amazing. My freshman year was the first year for current principal Matt Smith, he brought in a mindset that completely changed the school and made it one of the best schools in the state. The teachers here are amazing. They are very knowledgeable about the subject matter that they teach, and are very passionate about teaching. The teachers not only care about what students learn, but they also care a great deal about the students themselves. I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a place to not only thrive academically, but someone who also wants to develop into a better, more well rounded person.
