After a long search and touring handfuls of private and public schools, we chose to move to the district to attend Stafford. The impression the school, the leadership, the quality staff and tenure of the teachers made on us was also felt by my incoming kindergartener. He finally blossomed and thrived in the classroom, unlike any setting we had him in previously. We cannot say enough great things about our experience. Next year we will be sending our second child here as well to start kindergarten. The things that stand out about Stafford include the security (which was far superior to that of other schools we toured), the sense of community and family involvement, the academic record, how experienced and committed the teachers are and the immense resources available to push the gifted, pull up those behind, and work within an inclusive model. Just amazing. I have a unique situation as a business owner in the community and had long heard other parents speak very highly of Stafford and encouraged me to send my kids when they were old enough. I feel the same way about sharing with other parents.

This school is fairly average despite the district's reputation. The staff is very welcoming, but there are some teachers that are toxic and overly strict. Student behavior is very poor, with little to no consequences. The new administration is trying to set boundaries but many students don't care. Bullying here is rampant, especially towards LGBTQ kids. I would not send your children here if they are especially bright or sensitive.

I'm shocked that this school keeps making the top of rankings, but we are talking about Oregon. It is huge (1600+ kids) and there are only a few counselors to handle the needs of students regarding special education, college advising, etc. Like in most schools, many of the teachers are fantastic but their overuse of flipped classrooms and subs has really harmed students. I believe the reason why students do well here has less to do with what the school offers and more to do with affluent families and neighborhoods that can afford private tutoring, college prep consultants, and enrichment activities. Your student will really notice the difference when they arrive at college and study with the students from around the country who had college prep coursework. Finally, the school is lacking diversity- racial, economic, and religious, to name a few. There are, or were, pending lawsuits regarding racial discrimination against staff. I moved here because of the good schools but, if I could do it all over, I would never send my kids to the high school.
