Our custom-built Great Smoky Mountains home lies nestled on 6+ forested acres at 1,500 ft. elevation in Saddle Ridge, a private/gated community ($650/yr. HOA dues) encompassing some 1,200 acres with 70+ residences sharing its secluded setting together. Saddle Ridge is a certified Firewise community. Covenants exclude rentals.

A covered walking bridge entrance traverses the larger of 2 waterfalls connecting to a wrap-around deck cantilevered over a picturesque mountain stream.

Our home’s original owner/builder explained its one-with-nature design was inspired by architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Waters house in Fayette County, PA. He contracted an architect familiar with Falling Waters to incorporate that organic architectural theme in the home’s construction.

The ribbed concrete driveway, stone-encased steel I-beam infrastructure, metal roof, and composite shingle-shakes make this a built to last, minimum maintenance, one-of-a-kind home.

Over the years we’ve invested substantial improvements, renovations, and upgrades in personalizing our Great Smoky Mountains sanctuary. Selective tree removal; extensive landscaping; planting perennial shrubs and flower beds; positioning native stone pathways; and expanded parking area beyond the two-car carport have safely and harmoniously blended our home into the environs.
A full home Generac emergency generator and surge protector; new Trane HVAC system and completely replaced duct-work; additional insulation; gutter guards; buried 1,000-gallon propane tank anon bags; hot-water-on-demand; satellite TV; and fiber-optic high-speed internet service all contribute to private luxury living in the ‘Quiet Side of the Smokies’ . . . all just 10 miles from Maryville; 15 miles from Pigeon Forge; 30 miles from Gatlinburg, and 25 miles from Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson airport.

Available as furnished, turn-key, our home’s convenient single level interior features a multitude of unique features. Hardwood oak floors, knotty pine ceilings and large doors throughout, the Great-Room’s colossal log beams and massive floor-to-ceiling natural stone fireplace welcome all who enter. An open modern kitchen with granite countertops, custom wood cabinets, gas range, and stainless-steel appliances accommodate chefs at all levels of cooking expertise.

The spacious master bedroom occupies our home’s west wing. Featuring a full bath with shower and claw-foot soaking tub, two walk-in closets, and a functional antique coal/wood stove, it overlooks the upstream waterfall. A guest bedroom with double size bunk beds and large closet adjoins a second full bath/laundry room with upgraded washer and dryer.

An office/sun-room overlooking the stream completes our home’s east wing. Large, energy-efficient glass windows welcome nature inside, brightening every room. A rear entrance storage room with ample wall-to-wall, knotty pine storage cabinets lies off the Great-Room. Attic space is available for additional interior storage. A woodshed and 2 outbuildings provide outdoor storage.

My wife and I will truly miss the years we’ve shared together living here in the solitude of our Great Smoky Mountains little slice of heaven. However, with a combined 154 years between us, we’ve reached the stage of life where next-door accessibility to health care services, everyday conveniences, and other senior lifestyle amenities has arrived.

Curriculum is lacking a bit. Reading standards are laughable. Bullying wasn't handled properly in the slightest. It seems that the staff attempts to reconcile but falls short each time. I've been told that both religion and politics have been "discussed" multiple times as well with more opinion than factual representation for one side or another. Also unacceptable to me. The school seems to be attempting to improve. Time will tell.

"This area is in the country with mountain views but is close to and centrally located to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Knoxville, Maryville, Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, Knoxville airport, Townsend and Foothills Parkway. This is a very quiet and peaceful area in an area of upscale homes in Ansely Manor and Thunderhead Mountain Vista subdivsions."
