Whatever you do, NEVER send your child to Deer Lakes. I am a former student and my experience there was horrendous. The school paints themselves as a “save learning environment for all!” But then when a student from a minority group starts to get bullied, that bullying is suddenly not happening. My mother had to file LEGAL CHARGES because a kid in my grade was harassing me. And what did the school do? Give me, the person getting harassed, detention. What did the kid get in response? A simple talk about bullying. The school sweeps all issues under the rug. One of the lunch ladies was stealing money. The schools funding went into vending machines that nobody uses instead of an anti bullying program. Speaking of the program, they claim to have one, but they don’t. To summarize this school, it is a racist, bigitoted, transphobic, homophobic, sexist, hell ground. Don’t send your kids here if you love them.

This school is one of the best schools in the Pittsburgh area for the safety of its students and especially there mental health. The school isn't perfect with everything it does but most of the staff is warm and show a large amount of kindness to the students allowing a fun and more light atmosphere. The ability for the students to build relationships with the staff is very easy and will most like guaranteed to occur due to the lighthearted nature of many staff members such as the lunch ladies, the Librarian and many of the the teachers and the assistant teachers.

My kids do very well here! No complaints!

Wonderful staff, very warm and caring environment.This building sparkles! I find cleanliness an important indicator as well. My child has progressed very, very well here!
