My children have graduated from Treynor, and now my grandson is in elementary school. Treynor is a bedroom town with jobs in nearby Omaha or Council Bluffs. Housing is not cheap, and it requires a good salary to live in Treynor District. There are very few low income families, so this is not a diverse community. Most parents have college degrees and expect the same from their children. That expectation of achievement makes this school performance much higher. It is not for lazy kids or lazy parents. Kids do get in trouble, but they go to the cities to do it, and not in Treynor. There is a turnover in families as people move in for the school system, and then may move out after graduation. Parental careers also move people in and out more frequently. Because of this, Treynor may lack the "hometown atmosphere" and friendliness of a similar small town in which neighbors need each other. Much of the growing population lives on acreages, not in the town itself.

All students in grades 6-12 now have either an I-PAD or laptop computer provided by the school district. The new Iowa Core curriculum has been accepted by the district. Test scores continue to be very high in this area of the state. The staff has been in-serviced in "Capturing Kids Hearts" which has even increased more the educational relationships between teachers and students. Thirty percent of the students enrolled are from other nearby districts mainly because of high academic standards here. open enrollment students
