The Kyrene school district really isn’t as great and awesome as people say it is, especially Aprende Middle School. First off, they basically served the same dry, flavorless, and gross things for lunch every day. I could NOT eat the lunch without feeling like I need to barf out the food, it was the worst. Two, every two or so months, they had fundraisers. But when I say “fundraisers” I don’t mean for certain clubs— they were for the whole entire campus, to keep the school’s lights and AC on, basically to keep it away from shutting down. And they absolutely needed SO MUCH money. Probably one of the reasons why the district is struggling so much with budgets, and having to close many schools. (So far, Aprende is NOT on the list for school closures) The school also seemed to take out the fun in everything, especially Halloween costumes. Halloween were entirely banned every time October 31st landed on a school day, which isn’t a big deal for some, but of course, it made me mad, especially as a student with Autism, because how fun would that be going to school in your regular clothing, not able to pass out some candy? If you plan to send your kids to this school, reconsider! Just because a school has a “A+” and a “National Schools to Watch” award, doesn’t mean a school is the best one in the whole country. For Aprende, in this case, I was let down.

There are lots of students that are not successfully given the opportunity to graduate with the school. They are immediately thrown out told to attend grad solutions. Graduate with people who are 40 and 50 years old. My opinion the counselors need to work with students immediately after sophomore year to get credits they need. Instead of waiting tell junior year too be told there not gonna graduate with Corona High school.. System not setup right the Counselors are not doing there job successfully. I rate this school very low!
