I sent three of my children to Creedmoor Elementary. This is a terrible school in the area. The school was okay when we came in 2006 but it got worse after the first two good principals left. One of my children got hit in the head by a rock from another student at recess. The same child told me about teachers who swore at the children in class. One of the worst teachers was also one of the most awarded. This teacher went from fifth grade to kindergarten and traumatized my son who loved school. He became afraid of this teacher. It was awful. My first two children, now seventeen and twenty-one, made it through, but I had to take my youngest who is now ten out after second grade. That year was bad. There was no homework. The teacher was very harsh with him because he had a vivid imagination and she thought he was “delayed” or autistic without any testing or proof. She ignored the impact of Covid-19 and the school’s poor learning methods during that time. I could say more about the bullying from students and teachers, but the fact that the school is closing down says it all. Pay attention to who is teaching your children because they only have one childhood. We can move on, but they remember and are shaped by these things.

This school has a fairly supportive community; some of them try to strongarm staff for their kids if things do not go their way but most do good things for the school. It is sad that so many great teachers have left, the school has lost too many teachers in every department/grade and coaches/sponsors (three athletic directors in three years and three math teachers in one class in a year and both music teachers have changed over in the past year). Last year seventh grade had at least half of their teachers leave in the middle of the year. GCS can do better than this - we can make this school great again!

My Uncle (1952), my aunt (1967) my mother (1977), both of my brothers (2001,2005) and myself (2011) graduated from this school, and I can attest that even my friend’s son (2026 graduating class) will say that this school is the bottom of the barrel for schools, THIS SCHOOL NEEDS AN ENTIRE MAKE OVER TOP TO BOTTOM. Save your money and send your kids to a Montessori, a private school, or better, preferably Wake County schools. They offer better support for families, parents, they offer better programs for the students, they listen to the students, and offer safe spaces away from harmful behaviors.
