"I have lived in this area for 38 years. It is rural and properties range in size from 5 acres to 160 ac+ with the majority 20- 60 acres. The tiny town is friendly and folks love where they live."
  • Marijo P.
"Live here and LOVE it!!! Glorious photo ops with sunrises and sunsets - we see elk, deer, antelope on a regular basis - humming birds, blue birds, fox, coyote, occasional bob cat or mountain lion..."
  • Markpresley6
"Guffey is a great diverse community with plenty to offer. In the mountains but not so far from major cities and recreation areas. The Guffey charter school has a great program. Lots of social activities in the community."
  • John
"Guffey is about as remote as you can get in Colorado and still have a liveable place with utilities. 30 miles from anything it is a great place for an observatory, which it has.....dark, dark, dark skies! The quiet will amaze you. Very limited facilities:a coffee shop, two bars with marginal food, a library, postoffice and K-8 community charter school. Get this: NO cell phone service, no fiberoptic cable, no daily newspaper, almost no radio reception and TV only with a dish. The people are friendly, unassuming and there is a larger progressive community than you might expect in a town of 30 (the postal area has about 700 and they all seem to arrive at the saloon on Saturday night). About the only thing truly lacking is some kind of a small general store and service station. That's 20 miles away so locals always keep a stash of gasoline around. If you're in tune with the fast life in, say, Breck or Vail, you'll be badly disappointed. If relaxing among thousands of hummingbirds, elk, deer and wild turkeys in frighteningly silent evenings and mornings and you can make your own fun or like to hang with the locals for coffee or beer, it's definitely your place.
