My daughter received a bronco best award recently and I just want to say how wonderful of a job I thought the principal did. He seems to really care for the kids and is excited about there achievements. I was very impressed and feel more at ease sending my kid to school knowing that she has principal who cares.

This school has honestly been one of the most emotionally exhausting places I have ever experienced. A lot of people only see the outside of the school and think it is welcoming and supportive, but they do not understand what many Black and Muslim students go through behind the scenes. Throughout the year, I constantly heard racist comments, Islamophobic jokes, and disrespectful remarks that made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe almost every day. There were times when students would casually say the N-word, make “go back to your country” comments, or joke about ICE and deportation around immigrant students like it was funny. Even hearing those things repeatedly slowly affects a person mentally, especially when it feels like nobody truly cares enough to stop it.What hurt the most was not just the comments themselves, but the way many situations were handled. A lot of us reported these incidents multiple times, hoping something would change, but it often felt like our concerns were dismissed or not taken seriously enough. Sometimes we would be told things like “we’ll look into it,”. Or “get back to class”. But then nothing would happen after that. It felt frustrating watching students get away with saying harmful things while the people affected by it were left angry, hurt, and emotionally drained. After a while, it makes you stop feeling safe at school because you start expecting disrespect every single day.As a Black Muslim student, it honestly became tiring walking into an environment where I constantly felt judged or unheard. School is supposed to be a place where students feel safe enough to learn and be themselves, but instead I spent a lot of time feeling anxious, frustrated, and emotionally exhausted. There were many moments where I felt completely alone because people around me did not understand how deeply words and constant discrimination can affect someone over time. I am grateful that I am close to graduating because I truly do not think I could mentally handle another year in this environment. I hope that in the future the district takes racism and Islamophobia more seriously so that other students do not have to feel the same pain, anger, and isolation that many of us experienced.

Out of the 420 students, 333 of them being Caucasian and 21 of them are black, my child just happens to be one of those black children. This would be his second year in this school. Last year we had no problems. His kindergarten teacher was phenomenal. This year however the teacher is incompetent, did interested and does not care. My child has come home on several occasions stating he feels as though his teacher does not like him or he is being treated differently. This year he had an incident where he was kicked in the privates and instead of immediately being called we were not. Weeks later we met with the principal and she herself didn't even know about the incident. This schools values have rapidly declined. I was so excited and looking forward to this year and now I can not wait until the school year is over to see if there is a way he can be transferred to another school in the same district. I am not the only parent making complaints.
