6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent and as an educator, I have had experience with many schools, and this is BY FAR the BEST!The administration has created a safe, supportive, positive environment in which all kinds of different students thrive. The teachers are engaged and caring, working with students both in the classroom and outside of regular hours, meeting during office hours after school, responding to emails, and including parents in strategies to support the students at home. This school includes children with learning differences, disabilities, social and economic challenges, and makes them all feel valued and heard. There are a lot of kids on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, including several non-binary students, and the teachers and staff respect their pronouns and preferred names. The rating for this school is misleading, as it does not take into account all of these factors, and the success the students have experienced here, while they might have failed elsewhere. Liberty may(?) have better gifted programs, but for all other kids, there is no school that would better serve them. Also, other schools do not create the safe, supportive environment for students who would often be targets at other schools. The principal, Mr. Hush, has created a culture in the school that is second to none. I wish my child could stay through high school!Parent Review5y ago2 Reviews - Hazel Avenue Elementary School

"I have access to 5 train stations (2 within walking distance). So it’s great to get into the city in about 35 minutes from here. I also have access to I-280 and the Garden State (3 minutes and 8 minutes respectively). "

"Nothing to really think of. The neighborhood is full of dogs. Especially since there’s a park where you can walk your dog that’s not too big and not too small. "

"Orange can be a very nice cozy town if the people here just stop being so dirty and the city maintains the streets and sidewalks I've been living here 10 years and, olcott St hasn't been repaved, Monte irvin park is always dirty and filled with geese droppings. sidewalks are filthy and overgrown with weeds."

"There’s not much that would pose a problem for a dog owner, some streets are more industrial than others, but generally it’s a nice area and continues to improve :) There are a ton of parks around and dogs too! ...some owners don’t pick up after their dogs..but I haven’t seen these particular people for a while so maybe they moved away. It’s the same as any other town...some people are respectful, some aren’t! 🤣"

"I think dog owners will be fine, I think neighbors will be annoyed with how many dog owners don’t pick up after their dogs. I have a dog and a lot of dog owners in this area walk their dogs on streets they don’t live on without bags to clean up after their dogs. "

"I do not plan on staying here. It is always dirty, people don’t respect the environment. Some crossroads needs lights to able walkers to cross. People drive too fast. "

"It doesn’t make the community quite special, but it was the first time they had an event at a park that was just built on High Street. Where they had rides and games for the kids. It was pretty interesting, and even tho it rained, i believe the kids of the neighborhood really had an blast."

"It has historic homes and a centralized location. Orange is an up and coming vibrant neighborhood. The homes are less expansive than South Orange and West Orange however living in Seven Oaks, you get to enjoy the best of both. "
