My son was struggling in a different school, barely passing and always getting in trouble. It got to the point that I felt like the other school was bullying him so I transferred him to Slater. It a matter of weeks he went from not wanting to go to school and failing to loving school and thriving. Slater has been very supportive of his needs and issues.

We’ve had two children go through Travelers Rest High School, and we couldn’t be happier with the education they received.Both of our kids were able to take full advantage of the AP and IB course offerings, and the school went above and beyond to make sure they had the support they needed to succeed. We were especially impressed with how accessible the teachers and tutoring resources were. When our youngest struggled with Algebra early on, the school provided after-school help and peer mentoring that really made a difference. By the time they graduated, both our kids showed tremendous improvement in both reading and math scores, which speaks to the academic growth focus at TR.The school also offers strong SAT and ACT support, including prep sessions and counseling that helped us navigate college applications with much more confidence. They really treat college and career planning as a priority, not an afterthought.We also appreciated how the advanced programs were open to all students, not just the top few. TR seems to take equity and access seriously, and we saw firsthand how they worked to make advanced coursework and success possible for a wide range of learners.There’s a genuine sense of community at TRHS. Teachers and staff truly care, and the leadership is invested in improving outcomes and opening up opportunities. We’re grateful to the entire team at Travelers Rest for the strong foundation they gave our kids—and would absolutely recommend the school to any family looking for a high-quality public high school in the area.

After our experience with our child's elementary school, I was so disappointed with Northwest Middle. All three years have been a struggle. Each year, I've spoken to the teachers and asked them to personally contact me through email or text (not through BackPack, where it gets lost in all the other announcements) if my son is falling behind, as he has a tendency to "forget" things or be afraid to ask questions, and then scramble to catch up. In 3 years, only 2 teachers have reached out to me; and then one went on maternity leave before the second semester of his 8th grade year, so every year was a struggle.I already have a busy life and a job of my own. I do my best to keep on top of my child's schoolwork, as well. But if the teachers aren't reaching out when they see a problem, then they aren't helping me help my child. I can't do my job, the majority of the housework, and theirs, as well. It's a shame, because the band program is amazing, and the way it works with the neighboring high school (along with the honors program) should make this a stand-out school for fast-tracking your student on their high school career.
