      "Difficult austere environment, wide open spaces. Night sky is beautiful and the Salton Sea is also quite lovely at dawn. Lots of birds. If you want solitude and don't mind driving to Indio for shopping this is an all right place to be. It's common to have 120 degree summer days and there's no rainfall. A hermits dream, in a nutshell.
