Today I made the decision to remove my 7year old son from Scott Libby Elementary school in Goodyear AZ.When I dropped him off Wednsday morning, he showed me where he has been sitting in class alone, separated from the other students, facing the wall while the rest of the class sits together in groups.At first, I honestly thought he was joking. He was not!I was deeply disturbed to learn that this had apparently been happening for about a month, possibly longer, and I was never notified that my child was being isolated or disciplined in this way.No child should be treated like this.As a parent, it is heartbreaking to realize your child may have been silently carrying this every day. I have noticed changes in my son’s behavior, and now I understand why.I brought this to the school’s attention, and I left feeling like my concerns were not taken seriously.I want to be very clear: isolating a 7 year old child away from peers like this is unacceptable. It is emotionally harmful, humiliating, and damaging.I am speaking out because no parent should have to find this out by accident, and no child should have to go through this alone.My son deserves better.
