7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a student at this school from 1961 to 1967! In those days the teachers were the cream of the crop. They were necessarily strict because the students needed to learn discipline… however they were FAIR. There were a few standouts who were very compassionate towards the students and open with their parents, which was a very progressive way to be in the early 60s! We were made to work, but we LEARNED! I firmly believe I am the person I am today due to the education I received at PS 26.Other Review6y ago8 Reviews - Check out schools near 19611 69th Ave.

"A lot of traffic on highways nearby. No public transportation except for buses. The lirr is close and so is the midtown express bus. It’s just hard to avoid traffic to go anywhere on the lie and grand central at times. I drove to Brooklyn and it takes an 1 hr and 30 minutes to go and get home from work."

"The area welcomes dogs as long as owners curb their animal. The area is very quiet so if you have a noisy dog the neighbors may not like that you are in the area. Parks are very close and lots of space for dogs to run around in. There are a lot of small children and elderly in the area so it is important to keep your dog on a leash at all times."

"Pretty diverse community, family oriented, nice neighborhood in queens. Pomonok residents sometimes get a bad rep but that feedback comes from people from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I’ve never lived in a safer neighborhood in queens. I jog at night and I know more of my neighbors than I ever have before. "

"The area has great parks and has the best school district in Queens. Very safe neighborhood, but I believe it needs more street lights."
