Neighborhood Description

Franklin Park is one of Mclean's oldest subdivisions established in 1909 and recently celebrated its centenial. It is a wonderfully treed area that has a charming past with visions of James Madisions flight diring the war of 1812 as he stopped to visit on the porch of Col Minor's house (still standing). The neighborhoood has always been very eclectic both in house style and in residents. Citizens have always been very active on important matters and raised funds to build a road (Franklin Park Rd) or organize the only neighborhood conducted aerial gypsy moth spraying in the county and state. Recent infill construction has usgraded the housing stock and have shown that the location and convenience of Franklin Park supports Higher housing investment.

    "I lived and worked in the Tyson's Corner area and LOVED it! I lived in the Fountains of McLean, which was in easy walking distance to just about everything. With quick access to the metro, bus, and, (soon to be) via the metro, the airport, there really is no reason to drive (and fight that DC traffic). If you do need to drive, Tyson's is the place to be as you can get get to just about everywhere in the DC area without getting jammed on 95/495 traffic. The the extra "no commute time" I was able to enjoy all the local amenities my condo had including the pool and - due to location - Tyson's Corner shopping and restaurants. Last (but not least), the Fountains of McLean was one of those rare condos that not only allowed pets but had lots of space for the ol' doggo to get his daily walk. Finally, although I didn't have any myself, I have heard that the school system in McLean is second to none! I miss you already, Fountains of McLean!"
