Come join the fun watercolor breakfast and puzzle soiree house!
Private room in a Mature, Arts, Yoga 1904 Home, as part of an Artistic pocket of the San Antonio-Clinton neighborhood.
Rent includes wi-fi, free washer & dryer, water.
This is a calm, peaceful, creative and renewable energy home,
continuously upgrading to green. Not boring, just balanced.
Not dogmatic, just decent. Independent, yet, for the sake of effective communication and sharing, reasonably team-focused. Fun, occasional group activities, ranging from mixed gardening to relaxing art projects, happen while not monopolizing people's time. Fun film screenings can also occur, using the big HDTV in the spacious, ventilated living room. We're vaccinated and doing well. The room is held at a great rate, with a semi-private bath and shared utilities ranging from $18- 85 a month (depending on the season, and the price of natural gas) per person!
Occasionally, other typical house hygiene expenses occur, such as shower curtain replacements, cleaning supplies, etc. We strive for healthy surroundings, given the past tragic wildfires, and ongoing Bay Area Air Quality challenges.
As far as specifics, the double window room of approx. 9 x 13 ft is bright, with frequent sun and warmth, plus some shading. It includes a large 5'x3.5' walk-in closet with light. New black out blinds and, if needed, furnished rug, bureau and side table.
The room is also snuggly in the middle of a house with total hardwood floors, plus central heating and WIFI. Cool stationary bike in the spacious, desk-furnished common room, too! Overtop that magical space with its garden view is a well-lit yoga loft with a sweet sunroof and side window also garden facing. And we recently tuned the piano for a small gathering. That fun part is available at select hours so as not to mess with anyone's beauty sleep!
Writers, Healthcare workers, Yogi's, and artists generally prefer this place!
For convenience, there's a remote, basement-placed, top-of-the-line, no-cost washer/dryer. Two other residents share the kitchen, including dishwasher, utensils, cookware, spacious (new) refrigerator, electric stove, a whole-leaf tea area, etc. There are additionally two bathrooms.
BRIEF, MONTHLY snack meetings help us plan housecleaning and critical tasks for wellness and supplies, while clarifying anything. We try to keep the gorgeous wooden interior dust-free and healthy for all. To that end, we run HEPA Filters, along with keeping the place constantly ventilated.
Complementing these comforts is a big backyard, with comfy hammock. Current Oakland laws prevent bonfires without costly inspections and permits, especially after climate change, but there's a lot of magical green space here ;-). We are currently hoping to add a safe, stone-based fireplace while growing more veggies along one side of the yard.
Some storage is available for your bicycle that is used for commuting. NO PETS please, we already have an INDOOR, FRIENDLY, INDEPENDENT CAT, and really can't tolerate 4-legged power struggles, in a feral cat neighborhood.
In summary, we are a mature, fun-loving, hard-working, and considerate household. The fragrance of healthy home cooking is frequent in our home. No one monopolizes the kitchen, but we quite enjoy decent cooking and occasionally sharing the creations, while cleaning right after the prep. Our age range is 30's-50's. It's important to note that the BRIEF monthly house meetings are part of the deal, to eliminate confusion, strategize for economic resources, and keep a good group experience. The gatherings have proven to be the most effective system for the group's harmony since work, friends, and school otherwise see different timelines and lives for folks. So, we do short, monthly gatherings that respect everyone's schedules, and sometimes even add fun brunch, dinner, or dessert ;-).
A little about us, we often work offsite but live here: House Manager, 50's (she, her, hers), from a very mixed family, PFLAAG, Italian, French-English speaker, some Dutch, learning Spanish, marketing for multicultural arts and renewable energy. In non-pandemic times, also hosts monthly puzzle soirees and watercolor breakfasts. Looks out for house safety, admin, city reqs, and property maintenance, while adding to the street-sponsored bi-annual pancake block parties, in which most neighbors participate, and where the folks get to discuss any neighborhood concerns.
It's an increasingly close-knit neighborhood, while respecting privacy due to earlier decades of challenges.
Also, the street surface was recently repaved, so even your car will like this deal!
Once a month on-site owner is American-born Chinese male, 50's, civil engineer by day, very OFTEN travels as a nature photographer, for work and for outside family. Coordinates maintenance with on-site manager. He mostly stays in San Francisco with his long-term partner.
Past long-term housemates have included an early 30's UC Berkeley male historian who moved to a different job; a late 20's LGBTQ gifted vocalist and pianist (practiced on silent keyboard), who then got a scholarship to overseas grad school; an early 30's Latinx fresh juice distributor who had done some impressive international bike tours, an early 30's LGBTQ social worker who later went pre-med, then got into med school; an early 40's public high school teacher who taught Social Studies, a late 40's dancer and English teacher from Barcelona, late 50's talented landscaper and seamstress, and a 30-something social justice paralegal who then went to law school for human rights law;
Key attributes for all housemates are: CLEAN, TIDY, considerate, with GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS, plus PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE LIVING COLLECTIVELY, with DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS, and DIET TYPES.
Please be employed. NO COUPLES, OR HARDCORE DRINKERS, ETC.
Serious inquiries will provide three references with credit report, school ID and/or employment info at interview.
