"This community is very neighbor friendly, but not community friendly. Everyone tends to keep to themselves. "

"It’s just dog friendly and their allowed on beaches but check signs for dates and always pick up after your furry ones it’s very appreciated people put water bowls and snacks out for the fur kids"
  • Trulia User
"Bayview is a beautiful safe neighborhood small crimes at times like car break ends the school is one of the best had 3 kids go to Bayview you are treated fairly all concerns are taking firmly neighbors are diverse from young to old are friendly and welcoming the bay is beach is clean I’ve lived here 16yrs and love it unfortunately I must move out of area and I’m very sad. I’ve always felt safe no matter what time of day or night you can take a walk who ever gets this home will be so glad they chose Bayview as home let me be the first to say welcome"
  • Trulia User
"Good area to access Ocean View Beach, shopping, restaurants, and Interstate 64. Even though you need a vehicle, for the most part, public transportation is a few blocks away. "
  • Trulia User
"I’ve lived across from this property for 15 yrs raised 5 kids here school is great my kids love it I even feel safe walking to 7/11 at night most homes are owned or rented and have been in here for yrs. If the property allowed service pets I’d be moving in it."
  • Trulia User
"I’ve lived here 15 yrs I love my neighborhood everyone is friendly but dnt cause problems really low crime I’ve never been a victim anyway beach is clean and just a short walk dog friendly neighborhood bikers just a great area and close to all base access great elementary school it’s just easy to relax out the porch and enjoy ."
  • Trulia User
"A lot of traffic but great area for long walks by the beach. Safe and great parks. Fun for dogs and kids as well. Everything is close by and easy to navigate. "
  • Trulia User
"I love living by the water....but you can't make friends here. The neighborhood kids are bullies and parents don't care of they beat on other children and steal whatever they want. The humans in this area are not the nicest people. Can't wait to find a better neighborhood. My chdren can't play without being hurt and tormented by others. I've had to call police 5 times in a year "
  • Bibbsfarrah84
"The love to walk there’s dogs and the area is very welcoming to the people of the community . I’m just a visitor "
  • Schnorris
"You need to have a vehicle in order to navigate m. Everything is kinda spread out. Also, traffic is too bad"
  • Kibret
"I’m not aware of events in the neighborhood. We moved here recently and haven’t found the time to meet our neighbors. So far all looks and feels pleasant. I walk around the side walks in the evenings with my 15 month old nephew and are greeted by friendly folks walking their dog or coming home from work. Side walks, yards are kept up. We get delivery packages left on our porch with no issues. "
  • Tricia P.
"It’s a quiet neighborhood with a good amount of friendly faces. We have a neighborhood watch and look out for each other. "
  • Gina R.
"Great area to live in. most areas are quite and shuttle. i see kids all the time alone playing around. Great place"
  • Robin P
"The streets are nice to walk your dog down and the beach is nearby so you can run your dog there. There are also dog bag places where you can grab a bag in case you forgot yours."
  • Stylist3898
"Many people own dogs around here. Ive never had an issue with dogs in the neighborhood. I feel most dog owners are responsible."
  • Robin P. .
"I have never seen dogs running at large. I am assuming that most people have fenced yards or that they only let them out on a leash. I also have never seen animal control patrolling the neighborhood. This should attract good people to the neighborhood. I have never seen any cats roaming the neighborhood and I have never seen any evidence of people’s trash cans knocked over either. I have only been here for 2 years but everything seems to be legal."
  • Robin P. .
"It’s quiet and it hasn’t flooded yet. There are no dogs running at large. Rarely are there people walking outside late at night."
  • Robin P. .
"The only one is St.Patrick’s Day Parade but it is not within walking distance. I have been to it in the past and it is really enjoyable!"
  • 46 year in Bayview
"there is much crime in this area including armed robbery of stores , family dollar and toms green thumb. the civic league in some case harras people for petty reasons."
  • Meganfoster09
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood off and on for over 15 years. Always comfortable, diverse & family friendly. "
  • AMV
"I've lived here for 9 years and love it. Most people are friendly and kids play in the streets. Dog friendly, and blocks from the beach. The neighborhood keeps improving and getting better and better. "
  • Robin P.
"Bayview area. About 98% of dog owners pick up after their dogs. I’m retired Army and am home most of the day and it’s a nice quiet neighborhood."
  • Robin P. .
"I don’t know of any. Occasional I go to the library. I go to the grocery store, about 7 miles away, when I have access to a car. I used to go to Greenies until they tore it down. Sometimes I’d go to the Ocean View diner for lunch or breakfast, but now they are going to tear it down. Pretty soon there will be nothing here in OV that I can afford to go to or get to. It’s not fair what “they” are doing to OV! I wish “they” had more consideration for the people here who are not rich. The poor don’t have a chance!!!! Isn’t there anybody out there that could help out us poor working/retired stiffs? It is just not fair that when you work all your life only to get to old age and the rug is pulled out from under you! There has to be some people out there with a little competition. No grocery store for months, good, affordable places are torn down, senior center moved far away...what next?"
  • Mesha Monaè
"nights out at the beach . the neighborhood would bw nice if they added a wawa and had more newly renovated apartments in a good price range . "
  • Ron P.
"Close to the bay beaches. Nice neighborhood community. Close to Downtown Norfolk, military bases and lots of restaurants. Roads need repair, sewage systems are old and leaking, cost of living is moderately high."
  • Chris S.
"I've lived in the area since 2009 and I love it. It is an up and coming neighborhood with new houses being built all the time. The neighbors are friendly and people just love to love OV. We really lucked out when we bought our home and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. "
  • Catina Z.
"I've lived here for 2yrs and everyone here is respectful and the kids are friendly. they will help you if they see you need help.it's nice here and the neighborhood is quite. And the streets are clean."
  • Ron P.
"It’s a nice, old community. Most of my neighbors have lived here their whole lives. Houses usually only turnover when the resident retire, as we are about to. "
