Being a current student, this school is exactly great. The teachers help with your grades and the students are well behaved and smart.

Some teacher don’t have respect when u need help the say they are gonna help you but they don’t be helping

CHS is a great school. I have a totally different background and was worried about bullies but I have been received with love and kindness. Excellence is celebrated regardless of where you come from. Teachers interact with us like their own children. I am a 9th grader and can say I absolutely enjoy school. My teachers are already discussing college courses with me.Future Aeronautical Engineer,Oluwadamilare.

I can say that at East Side I had experiences and opportunities that was only possible because of east Side like ECC program, where I graduated from High School with my Associates degree already

I just was awarded section 8. I was so excited. I wanted to move out of Newark. Then I received a letter from Malcolm Shabazz stating that my son was one of 6 students in Newark district schools that was awarded a scholarship to Lincoln Tech. All expenses paid. Malcolm Shabazz also informed us that not only will he be graduating next year with honors from there but also Lincoln Tech. They informed us upon graduating in would receive an additional scholarship for 85,000, to further his education. My son was and is so excited. So as for me moving out of Newark, not happening now. My son's dreams have to come first. Thank you Malcolm Shabazz for caring so much about my child and his future!

what can we do to make our schools better? It's up to us to make a difference with our schools and city. Stop complaining about what's so bad about it and make a change.

The education system in the building is very strong and positive. The staff and students welcome you with open arms and show u the right way to be in the building. West side is full of positive attitudes and positive people.

My child attends this school for Kindergarten, I was thinking it would be a good school for her, but how wrong I was. This school does not care about the students, my child teacher was horrible, she waited to have the first meeting to let me know my child was struggling to be on special ed, this was already in the middle of year, the teacher never reached out to me before to letting me know, and her demeanor to my child was always the same in every meeting she wanted to "ship" my child to another school far away as my child was a problem to her, thank god I always was opposed to that and request my child to be reevaluated! Conclusion they did not send my child to a different school, my child was approved to have Special Ed but never was given to her because was already too late (the school, special ed office and teacher didn't care) and I was over the school, especially the teacher and all of them. If you love your child and you decide to have them attending this school be their advocate because this school only want's the perfect kids no special ed kids. The best i did was move my child from this school to never again!
