What Locals Say about Eckerty

  • Dbnunn1
"An eagle's view of the region is rolling and forested terrain broken up with pasture and cropland, though this is not really a farming community anymore. Marking a radius of two mile from the junction of Hwy 37 and Governor's Trace Road, the homes are mostly well cared for with the exception of one abandoned farm which is for sale. Most of the homes are on acreage. There is a successful and popular restaurant centered at the junction and a convenience store is at about 2 miles. This is not an area for school aged children as the schools are distant and not all that good. However, the sports program is enthusiastically supported. There is not an active alcohol or drug problem in the area and most folk are family oriented with a strong protestant christian background. The area is very rural and the population is small. Johnson Twp is among the most least populated townships in Indiana, which is a plus to those who live here and few properties sell outside of family units."
