Description

35 miles to the west of Denver on 285 - South as far as the signs go, because 285 starts moving south a bit later. First stoplight is at Pine Jct. Around 4 miles later to stoplight #2, which is Park County road #43. Turn right, follow it to a Y, #47, stay right and meander through the greenery until the pavement ends. You'll be at 9200 feet in the Colorado Rockies, and officially in Harris Park. Caveat? This small community is surrounded by National forest, and has an abundant supply of natural water, and from it's humble beginnings to present, no one has ever punched a bad well. In today's 'bottled water' and 'filtered faucet' society, that's big. A great escape from constant 'Ozone' warnings, and traffic jams. Many people up here have discovered this, and have 2nd homes and cabins in this area...a trend started long ago to escape the city's confines. This home is south face and positioned on the side of a hill, and overlooks a lake that's currently getting updated by the Harris Park water board, which owns a goodly amount of acre feet of the water. The hill on the opposite side of the lake is literally covered with trees from bottom to top. The house is designed with a city loft style in mind, with a large open main room, high ceilings, and oversized bedroom and bathroom. With 10 south face windows for a great view and the large sun room and plenty of natural sun warmth to the plumbing centered and situated far below the frost line depth, the home exudes a smile and sense of freedom. Planted on an 1800 sq. ft footprint that required an engineered foundation, along with an engineered septic system, the home was designed to give a relaxing breath of fresh air, whether sunning on the decks or hiking the many trails in the surrounding forests, or fishing in Harris Park lakes.
Perfect setup for those who work from home and not have to drive back and forth to the city daily, for those who want a second home after retiring, or artists/musicians, etc.
This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Trulia. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.

"It’s not too bad. Summer Fridays is usually pretty busy going up the hill with all the campers and Sunday mornings is crazy with campers heading home. "
  • Jim.tyler2009
"Dog owners should love this area. So many hiking areas. Lots of dogs. Parks recreation areas and dog friendly people. The wildlife can be of serious concern to dog owners so it’s a place to be on constant guard of your pets. Mountain Lions, Bear and coyote have all been seen in the area. There does not seem to be any cats here. Just dogs. Probably best that small dogs be watched at a high level. "
  • Elk.martin
"this is a great place to live. the people are very friendly and there is abundant wildlife in the area."
  • Decker903
"Wildlife, and calmness of the mountains mixed with the feeling is a close nit community. There is a learning curve for people coming from a city atmosphere."
  • Nick W.
"A mountain town if there ever was one! Gorgeous place to live, just be ready to commute for most things. Definitely need a car that handles well in the snow."
  • Susan B.
"absolutely gorgeous mountain living with wildlife on properties only 35 minutes from Denver"
  • jtdayusa
"Incredible views with a sky full of stars at night. Great energy here."
  • sam s.
"Great area for work at home people, also a opportunity for mechanic, cabinet maker or any one who wants privacy and a bif insulated shop to make a living and only have a 100 ft commute. The roads are maintained all year so when you do need to get into town there is no problems. If you are into hiking, biking, wildlife or just peace and quiet all you have to do is walk out your front door. the community has three stocked fishing lakes and a community center with a park for the little ones.
