4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIssues I have had with this school:* 30 minutes of homework nightly, in first grade (not developmentaly appropriate). *if you choose not to do the homework, your child doesn't earn class points (exclusion). *teacher lying about district policy about homework when questioned (said it's required) *taking recess as punishment and assigning laps if your child goes "on red" (violation of state board policy) *questioning teacher about issues, being redirected to admin.*meeting with admin, where they agree with all the issues I raised (because they were basic requests based in current edu practice)*being ignored (over a week!) when attempting to contact again about policy change being implemented a month later*escalating the situation, just to find out they changed the policy a month ago, did not inform you directly regardless of your concerns and ignored you because the PRINCIPAL told them to. *contacting the superintendent to only speak with the secretary and being informed they spoke with the principal and the issue is resolved with no input from you. I'm a teacher - I have a deep understanding of best practices in the school setting and have advocated since the beginning of the year about the lack of those being implemented. Ya'll they changed every single policy because I WAS RIGHT. The additional results have been blantent disrespect from the school, ignorning and lying to placate me. I guess being wrong leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. If your kids are at Silverdale Elementary - beware. They're slimy and they only serve their own best interests. Additionally, it pays to know they aren't using the science of reading to teach reading. They're also using clip charts (promote bullying and shame to control students) for classroom management strategy.
