3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is terrible and refuses to take accountability for any wrongdoings that happen. They not only allow violence and assault to take place but actively cover it up. The teachers play favoritism and my child was taught during a lesson that vaccines cause autism. Parent/teacher phone calls go nowhere and are a waste of time. One star is gracious.Parent Review9mo ago14 Reviews - Ps 163 Bath Beach

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis schools is K-8 but I feel that the experience sort of deteriorates as you progress through the years, i.e, I wouldn't reccomend this school into your middle school years, literally just apply to any middle school within distanceElementary-wise, it was completely fine, I thought of some of the teachers as a little bit harsh but overall they were fine. There isn't really anything noteable for me to say. After school activities like sports, recreation, and theatre are offered. Chorus is also offered to elementary and middle school but I wouldn't reccomend it at any level unless you're REALLY passionate about singing and you're able to put up with stubborn teachers.Middle school is where I personally think quality starts to drop. Since this school is K-8 I assume funding has to be shared between elementary and middle school, so there aren't a lot of programs available for middle school students besides for the ones already mentioned, and even at that, they aren't even that good which I'll go into later. But this school offers algebra 1 and living environment to 8th graders in the dubbed "regents/honors" class which in itself I found sort of toxic. One of the regents teachers often talked about how there were students that deserved to be in the regents class, yet they weren't which sort of put guilt and pressure onto us who were in the regents class. The two teachers overall put quite a bit of pressure onto us though and really stressed us. On another topic, a lot of middle schools offer US history as well but this school doesn't which is something to note but shouldn't be too detrimental.Another thing that sort of hinders your overal school experience is the lack of activities which I think again is just a problem about funding. The programs that we did have are lackluster, the theatre program most noteably, but the programs that we don't have overshadow the ones that we do. I went into high school thinking that my elementary to middle school years were fine but I heard of all these things other people were involved in like various sports, choir, orchestra/band and more. These things of course don't impact your high school years at all and it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but I just felt as though I'd wasted those years. There'll come a time when you enter high school when you won't be able to do all of these extracurriculars and you'll have to prioritize study, and I'd spent those years just going straight home after schoolOther Review2y ago12 Reviews - Ps 186 Dr Irving A Gladstone

"I lived in this neighborhood for 10 years and most of the neighbors are very friendly and respectful to one another. I also walk my dogs at night and the streets feel safe. No kids hanging out causing mischief in this neighborhood. It’s great!"
