If you're looking for a house with character and that's been through some good times and some lean times, then this may be the house for you. The floors do slant, it's definitely "vintage" and a work in progress, but it's had minor upgrades with the bathroom and kitchen cabinet. The house is a nice, cozy space of about 800 square feet. It has hardwood floors in the 2 front rooms, vinyl plank flooring in the other rooms, a place to park off the street (no garage), gas stove, and electric refridge. There is no central heat and air, NO washer/dryer connections. It does have window units for A/C. Electric heaters are provided for colder days. It's on the corner of Martin Luther King and Singleton. Bus stop is within a block of the house, and it's a hop, skip, and a yodel away from UT, Mueller area with walking trails, shops, the Thinkery, Dell Children's Hospital, etc. It's about halfway between I35 and Airport on the south side of MLK. Pets are permitted with a non-refundable pet fee of $200 each. Rent is $1300/month, Deposit is $1300 and work/rental references are checked. There is a large pecan tree in the front yard. Renter is responsible for utilities and upkeep of the yard. The reason the price is so low is because it is an old house and will be worked on while some one is renting the place. The lower rent price is to accommodate the inconvenience you may experience as workers come through to work on remodeling issues.
This is also MONTH TO MONTH so that either the renter or landlord can give written 30 day notice to vacate the property.
The location and being up to date would make the rent closer to $2200/month but obviously the house is not there yet. If you want cheap rent for the location, then this price reflects the condition of the premises. You do not have to rent this place if you are not pleased with the condition of the house and want something more modern. You are free to pay the price that kind of house commands in Austin, TX. and not bother with my house. I would like a renter who values the character of old houses and understands the time, money, and efforts it takes to upgrade an old house. If you remodel old homes with expertise and attention to detail, please reach out with your credentials and proof of your abilities.
