In my experience, this school is not well managed. My child has been bullied and ( because of the fear of powerful parents ) I was told it was my responsibility to make sure my child is safe . 6 grade child who is offered laced drugs on school premises. Fights and chaos nothing else . Few good teachers, nepotism is the rule. So if you not from this region do not believe the globalization bla bla....these folks have no idea where DC is....and New York is a far concept filled with obnoxious people....in short stereotypes have a long way and bullies have the power. My child was transferred .

Appoquinimink High School *conditionally* is one of the best schools you can find. I say conditionally because it really depends on what kind of student someone is; those that work harder and strive for more typically turn out better than those that do not do their work, and that comes to no surprise to anyone, but it's a common sense thing that MUST be stated. If you're not going to do work at this school, then it's just like any other school. Otherwise, while issues that happen in most schools like sexting and drugs do happen in here, and there is a group of kids that I urge everyone to stay away from, it's a great school and can only lead to opportunities. Students are relatively nice, counselors are cooperative and will work with you on anything and nearly everything you need, and teachers are typically good at teaching (with few exceptions, most of which leave after one year). As someone who gets higher grades than most, it's not hard to get them, but in some pathways and classes, you definitely have to work harder than others. There's no bullying in this school as others have said, and the environment is just fantastic. If anyone going into Appo is reading this, and assuming that the teachers I'm about to list are still in the school, I would strongly advise you to try to have Mr. Lunsford (PLTW Engineering - POE, DE, EDD), Mr. Hoffses (IM III and Calculus AB), Mr. Milchovich (World Studies Honors, occasionally AP Psychology, and AP Human Geography), and Mrs. McCloskey (Spanish II and Spanish IV). Personally, Mr. Lunsford was my favorite teacher because of how he approached teaching, and not only gave us an education, but life advice. I'd have to say that the last three teachers are all tied, but I'll give some insight on them. Mr. Milchovich is a hilarious teacher, his World Studies Honors class was one of my most fun classes, and I actually learned a lot in it. Mrs. McCloskey was my favorite language teacher because she tried to keep the playing field as even as possible, and in doing so still shared bits about her personal life (which I found interesting). Mr. Hoffses is just an overall great teacher; Hoffses makes teaching easy, and he's one of those teachers that doesn't really talk about his personal life, but gets stuff done and done right. I'm proud to say that I've gone to Appo and I love the school.

My Granddaughter is 10 in 5th grade and being bullied and the school ignored it and hid it. Then one the bulling girls Threatened to Kill my Granddaughter in writing on a piece of paper that she turned into the teacher plus verbally to other students. Well the school and district was useless they hid behind there code of conduct and did not suspend the aggressor or do anything. There solution was to move the girl to another seat in the same classroom with my Granddaughter, so my granddaughter will see her everyday all day. to open that wound everyday. We contacted the district head of schools and he passed the buck and would not get involved. We are still trying to get this girl expelled and moved but with no luck, we have contacted the police and lawyers to see what we can do to solve this issue with the school and district hiding from this issue. This cant be the first time this happened to students in this district, send your kids somewhere else if care about there safety, because APPO District on cares about there ratings not there Students. as of February 6th 2025 we are still dealing with this issue and we contacted Matt Meyers (governors office) office for help too but nothing yet. Beware of Appo school district
