My daughters first year here at this school and she has loved it up to this last marking period. She has had the worst teacher we've ever experienced. Von Alt is horrible and should not be teaching. He seems to be on some sort of "power trip" and should worry more about the kids education than being in "charge". None of the kids like his class (Tech Ed) and I would highly recommend removing your child from his class if they end up having him. It has been a nightmare!

I agree the 4 subject school day doesn't challenge our students enough. It in no way prepares them for the real world where multitasking and time management will be crucial in their pursuits at higher education and competitive employment. The expections of students by teachers and adminstration at this school is mediocre at best. Come on WASHINGTON County. Let's think OUTSIDE THE BOX.....above and beyond "no student left behind."

Rockland Woods Elementary School is a decent school for students that do not have learning differences. The school does create and hold interesting family-oriented gatherings for the students. The Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) as a whole is not supportive to neurotypical students that require accommodations and services to support the student to thrive in the educational setting. It is INCREDIBLY hard to even have your child evaluated for learning services and support. When you can get the school to agree to assess your child, they do the bare minimum testing, AT BEST. The actual teachers are SO HELPFUL and SUPPORTIVE; however, the teachers are not supported as well, and it prevents teachers from appropriately supporting the students. I do NOT recommend.
