Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Fair Lawn is honestly a 5/5 school. The teachers really care about helping students understand the material and are always willing to stay after class or explain things in a different way if someone is confused. The school also offers a lot of opportunities like clubs, activities, and sports so students can explore their interests outside of regular classes.Another great thing is the supportive environment. Students are encouraged to work hard, ask questions, and help each other succeed. The staff works to make the school safe, organized, and a good place to learn every day.Overall, Thomas Jefferson Middle School stands out because of its dedicated teachers, strong academics, and positive community. It’s a place where students can learn a lot, grow, and feel supported — definitely a 5 out of 5 experience.

In freshman courses there are no books. History is taught using pdfs that say things like no party had a moral high ground in WWII. In math there is no book, the preparation for standardized tests consists of the teacher sitting by herself waiting for questions. In French there is no book, just a bunch of copied pages. The teachers seem to be on the left side of the political spectrum. Tests are typically multiple choice because they use Scantrons for the teacher convenience.

As a former student of this school, they set a very strong foundation for me. I am very grateful for what they had done. I wouldn't be on my way to a doctorate if it weren't for my excellent experiences in the Fair Lawn schools.
