2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to NPHS during its hey-day in the late 80s graduating in 1990. Teachers, students, administration were all at the top of their game. The Canucks were winning championships, theater won state championships (under the direction of the late Tom Lanno), arts were flourishing. The school and frankly the town, was a force to be reckoned with. It was an amazing education and I had an amazing experience. Then in a VERY short period of time, it all evaporated. Fights were a daily occurrence. Police were stationed at the doors (and this was in the early 90s when this was very uncommon). Plainfield and Newark students were infiltrating. Demographics of the town eroded. I'm not surprised to see the overall scores & other reviews. So sad. Hopefully one day the normals who care will retake the town and school.....Other Review4y ago11 Reviews - Somerset School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would give this School 10 out of ten stars. This school promotes parent involvement and all of my children’s teachers have been proactive in meeting their needs academically and emotionally. They really stress the importance of daily attendance, respect for others, self accountability, and praise positive behavior. Their are also many workshop and family dinners held at the school to teach parents how to assist their child with reading math, science and study habits. There’s a strong sense of community here and the PTA and the school work wonderfully together for the success of all the students.Parent Review8y ago6 Reviews - North Plainfield Middle School

"Not bad to take a bus to NY city. Train is far from the town. To drive by car is convenient but expensive given the rates of toll to be paid."

"I’ve lived here for 20 years, raised my kids here, the area is family friendly and safe, it’s more house than I need but love the area, the convenient shopping the commute ease to the city for work, and love it in the summer the backyard and friendly neighborhood makes it feel like a real retreat after a week of working in the city. Good schools to boot. "
