Would really like to see the school really push for greater depth and pace of education. The key to any elementary is teaching kids how to learn. Learning how to learn is the foundational element for any child, this is not a focus for the kids at Green Valley. Additionally, the school caters to the students operating at the lowest quartile and doesn't attempt to push those who seek to advance their pace and growth. The school has had meaningful turnover in teachers. It would appear budgets might be an issue, but we don't seem much innovation in education. Finally, Donna Grimm needs to be replaced. The school needs a more sophisticated Principal who doesn't cater to a select number of parents. Donna seemingly favors select students and parents, and also seems to have an aversion to minorities. Several parents and teachers have suggested that Donna has a particular bias in her views. This is not appropriate for an elementary school. I think the district needs to review this in more depth and receive a proper review of Donna based on a survey of both parents and staff.

We’ve had two daughters attend this middle school for all three years, and it’s been a great experience overall. The teaching staff is excellent—dedicated, supportive, and always willing to provide extra help if you reach out. They’re very aware of the social environment and the challenges that come with these years, and they do their best to acknowledge and support students through them. There’s a good variety of activities, and our girls grew both academically and socially. Highly recommend!

Monte Vista might not be the right fit if you struggle with fast-paced and rigorous classes. I have an IEP and multiple learning differences and I am struggling so much to keep up and finish my homework. The resource teachers are really great and will help you get accommodated and pass your classes. Most of the students are nice and friendly. Overall a good school.
