I like to give to this school -5. This school CURRENTLY has;>LACK OF DISCIPLINE >SELFISH STAFF and PARENTS>STAFF NOT LEADING BY EXAMPLE< >UNHELPFUL WHEN YOU NEED INFORMATION>MOST PARENTS ARE VERY HOSTILE AT SCHOOL GROUND AND DON'T FOLLOW SCHOOL RULES. >> kids with BAD BEHAVIOR doesn't have consequences when they do something, completely unsafe for responsible and respectful kids. MECKLENBURG COUNTY SCHOOL can do more about this specific school, but unfortunately THE STAFF, including teachers and most parents don't have the will to do what is right, not only for the school, for the entire community too. >>My kids came from a school 9/10, and the difference between the previous school and SOUTHWEST MIDDLE SCHOOL is ASTRONOMICAL and unfortunately this school is DOING very bad. If I recommend SOUTHWEST MIDDLE SCHOOL? you will have a big NO....

Harshly disagree with the safe here. My child started 4 days ago, her very first day a deranged kid put scissors on her head. They did not tell me this my 5-year-old had to. She said when he did it she said she was going to tell the teacher he replied he does not care. If he doesn't care this has probably happened multiple times. Why is a mentally deranged kid holding scissors up to my child's head, where was the teacher when this happened, why would a special needs kid have scissors in the first place with no supervision?!?! And lastly once again why the f*** did my 5-year-old have to tell me instead of the school letting me know as soon as it happened. Needless to say she didn't go the last 2 days, and I filed a nol with the state I will now be home schooling.

I started attending Palisades HS as a Senior taking Honor classes less than a month ago. I began my transfer in early December, and didn't hear back from the school until February. It took a school this large, this staffed over 2 months to begin a transfer from another school in the school district. Moving on. For a school with this many administrators, counselors, and support staff, basic logistical tasks seem to fall through the cracks at an alarming rate. Emails go unanswered. Deadlines aren't communicated. You're often left chasing down information that should have been handed to you on day one, including transport information. I have YET to be assigned a school bus. Today, I walked in same as any other day. Same backpack. Same contents I've been carrying for months including a portable battery that's been in there since before I even started at this school. I went through the metal detector, it flagged me, and I handed my bag over without hesitation. What was then supposed to be a routine laptop check turned into five staff members huddled around my bag, digging through every compartment. They look up at me holding the portable charger, and I say it's a battery. Didn't matter. They had already marked it as drug-related paraphernalia and sent me to ISS, and I was written up. I have NEVER in my life touched any kind of smoking-related drug. I don't even know what words to use, or to express this with. This is so beyond unprofessional coming from a school this size, this staffed. At Palisades, there is zero protocol. The staff do whatever they want to do, and there's zero reach a sports coach should be over here screaming at my parent, when they're being delusional about what they found.
