All 3 of my kids went to Delong. The teachers and support staff are the best! They work together to meet the needs of all kids. They go above and beyond!

Memorial truly prepared me academically. Couldn't have asked for a better education, and in that regard it definitely deserves 10/10. I've had university classes easier than classes I took here. I would feel very comfortable sending my child here. The main downside is the cliques, and the difficulty I've seen new students have trying to make friends. Many people in Eau Claire have lived here for generations and though it's a large town, everyone still manages to know everyone--especially because the south side (54701) and the north side (54703) are virtually different towns completely. There's also a slight drug problem and some people complain of a lack of friendliness. Move here when your kids are young and get them involved in activities and you should be fine.

Lakeshore Elementary is not a welcoming community. For as often as they like to spout that they want a strong school community, with families feeling welcome and involved, you’d think they would make an effort to actually do that. It is all talk. Very minimal family communication, you will often feel like you have no idea what is going on within your child’s school. Families are often discouraged from entering by the school building. The current principal is a lot of talk and fluff. She will say what she needs to say to make you feel better about a situation, but her follow through only exists if it directly benefits her. They are wonderful at making SPED accommodations, to the detriment of the rest of the school population. Most of the people making decisions there are just trying to get through each crisis, regardless of if that means they are being consistent, fair, and honest. As much as I wanted to trust my child’s school, the front office staff makes that very difficult at Lakeshore. If you have a choice, do not enroll your child here. If it cannot be helped, then make sure you stay as involved as the school will let you. Question things that don’t feel right. Stand up for your child. Call out staff when things seem questionable. The teaching and learning part they seem to have a handle on. It’s everything else, which is a lot, that they fail miserably. How is this school still allowed to run this way?!
