  • Trulia User
"I know there a park near by and then there is a lot of students around so I’m sure they know a lot of the community events"
  • Trulia User
"I see people walking their dogs all the times. There are several green areas. They are building more dog parks"
  • Sukhman S.
"Great Neighbourhood to live in. Lots of parks and amenities nearby. If you have children, there are plenty of good schools nearby. "
  • Trulia User
"There are lots of other dog walkers and the streets are tree-lined. It’s primarily residential so there isn’t a lot of traffic and what there is, moves slowly."
  • Trulia User
"I’ve lived in downtown Atlanta for over 20 years and my favorite thing about it is that it is the most urban neighborhood in all Atlanta, with the historic architecture, public transit access and local attractions that come along with such a distinction. While Downtown has not been as “hot” as Midtown to the north, as of 2020 the neighborhood is on the verge, with multiple residential, commercial and office project under construction or coming soon. "
  • Hip N.
"Lots of trees and green space. Children friendly as lots of fields and grassy areas for them to play"
  • Brennan C.
"Lots of trees and green space. Children friendly as lots of fields and grassy areas for them to play."
  • Victor A.
"I love it here. Less children the better. A playground for singles and young couples with NO children. Great place to be able to entertain at your home with out fear of neighbors complaining"
  • Jamescolman59
"Two hours each day and I just want a good area to stay and get to work on time . So I hope this is a good area to stay"
  • Nataliehansbro
"it can be tricky during high peak hours for traffic but if you time it right it’ll be fine. going north or east on the highway always gives lots of traffic but again, with time management it shouldn’t be a huge issue. "
  • Wendy D.
"Monthly neighborhood socials, annual tour of homes, scavenger hunt,,lots of neighbors doing things together, neighborhood association "
  • Cia H.
"Not much grass space but there are plenty of parks available for dogs to go to. Plenty of pet stores around "
  • Devyreau
"I’m not sure but I don’t let my dog lol in the streets of downtown. She’s a house pup. I do see a lot of people walking with dogs though. "
  • JackKrak
"Transportation is great here. People could use it a lot more but I think in atlanta, there is a perception that only poor people use public transit. "
  • Putrice B.
"A lot of homeless people because of the local shelter closing about a year ago and sometime people may feel danger. This people are harmless. "
  • Luluphaye
"This is a tourist area. Everything seems well maintained for that reason. The derelict are still very present. "
  • Mya M.
"The city never sleeps so there are lots of bars and festivities for adults to do, but not a lot for kids. Although there is a movie theater and soon to be bowling alley coming as well. "
  • Sarah.howorth7
"Convenient to everything in the city; easy access to the interstate; great public transportation options."
  • Wendy D.
"If you want your child to grow into a city kid, this is the place. Ride buses, walk everywhere, see events and museums without leaving the neighborhood. Caveat: reality of rampant homelessness."
  • Trulia User
"Norman Rockwell type community , friendly neighborhood where kids and animals are enjoyed.Families get together to talk over the good, bad and the ugly."
  • Wendy D.
"Downtown Atlanta is the most urban area in the city and as a resident of 20 years, it’s given me maximum access to public transit, a central location, a pedestrian-friendly environment, the bustle that comes with GSU students, tourists, and office workers, and in Fairlie-Poplar, the sub-section of Downtown I’m in, a surrounding of historic buildings. I live in a converted office high rise that’s over 100 years old and next door to me is a beautiful courthouse that’s even older, plus the Flatiron Building, which dates to the late 19th century. Another element of Downtown that makes it unique is the degree to which residents get to feel they are living in a “village” type environment, where you know the owners and workers at the various shops, restaurants, etc. in the neighborhood. People come and go on foot, not by car, do you see one another on the sidewalk and chat. The three challenges Downtown faces are 1) lack of major retail like supermarket (although even w/o a car I’ve always done fine), 2) only a small number of apartments (as opposed to condos like mine), and 3) a major homeless and panhandling issue, which has gone up and down over the years and us bad right now. "
  • Kristie B.
"Lots of fun shops and great restaurants. There is something for everyone."
  • Kristie B.
"Lots of animal friendly places. Great place for them."
  • Clara G.
"The dog park could use some work; however the sidewalks are easy and good to walk your dog on. The neighborhoods are beautiful."
  • Clara G.
"It's a very easy commute. Be mindful of parking. Narrow roads are quite common."
  • Kristie B.
"I work inside my neighborhood so it's a very peaceful drive with beautiful shade trees."
  • Kristie B.
"Can be very busy and make sure to have a stroller if you have young children."
  • Clara G.
"The school system is great in Decatur. There are also lots of places to have a date night."
  • Clara G.
"Be aware of the parking. It's not very easy to park. The school system is great and most kids can just walk to school."
  • Jasmine T.
"Be careful at night because you never know what could happen."
