"This is a nice residential area. I really like how this home sets back away from the street."
  • Spokemanbob
"We retired here five years ago from Kansas City, Ks. to downscale from high property taxes, crime, traffic, harsh winters, Ks. winds, etc. Though we lived in the city for 40+ years we were raised; I in wheat fields of Kansas and wife from woods in north Florida. I like it pretty well even though I'm only a casual fisherman and not a hunter both of which can be popular here. My wife dislikes the lack of good shopping and restaurants. The people and country remind her of Florida north woods which she was never fond about. It is a mixture of redneck stigma, and just good down-home folks who would do about anything for you. We both agree to have never saw so many banks and churches in one place. The schools seem to be excellent and good colleges abound. It is an area where you can live on less but, lack in some amenities.. We replaced a 50 yrs old 1800 sq. ft. wood frame tri-level with small yard and $2300 taxes for a 1800 sq. ft. new, brick home on one acre with taxes $400 with Homestead exemption on the edge of a small town. In our case, Russellville, 20 mi. SE would probably have been a better choice. Even so, I would probably rate it 7 out of 10; my wife probably 3 out of 10! Weather is a great plus if you don't mind the high humid summers. Good Luck "
