8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAccording to the website: Students new to DMS will be placed based on their previous math coursework and may be given a placement test to help us determine the appropriate level of Math for the student.Actually, if you move here from outside California, straight As and high standardized test scores elsewhere mean nothing. The registration office can barely provide a class schedule the day before classes start to students moving from outside the district. Expect to heavily advocate for your children, if you are new here. Lots of fighting and kids doing poorly get all the attention, while they ignore the straight A students.Parent Review7mo ago10 Reviews - Lietz Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school went downhill after they got the new principal mrs lemons. Doesn't know how to manage the school especially when it comes to bullying. Always “busy” to talk to parents but never fails to just walk around with her coffee. My child academic score didn't improve because of the lack of teaching by Ms Talley. Glad we moved my child to another school where he’s now thriving!Parent Review8mo ago21 Reviews - Noddin Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur kids have been attending Noddin for five years now and we experienced all grade levels (from kinder to fifth grade). I realize that not all teachers are the same, but the teachers we have experienced loved their work and loved the kids. They worked above and beyond to help each child thrive. The school's educational approach echos positive discipline - there is focus on positive behavior and emphasis of success versus criticism and punishment. The school management, the teachers and the support team are flexible and will work with you to help your child. There are many opportunities to experience the real world through project based and team activities. There is an awesome STEM program with a well equipped lab room. Other extras we loved were the art and music programs. The community is highly involved with many dedicated volunteers and there are volunteer opportunities for working parents as well.Other Review5y ago16 Reviews - Union Middle School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur experience with the Union middle school has been extremely positive. The principal's leadership stands out as one of the school's greatest strengths. They are highly visible, approachable, and genuinely invested in the success and well-being of every student. Their commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and academically challenging environment is evident throughout the school community. The school offers a wide variety of clubs and extracurricular activities, allowing students to explore different interests, develop new skills, and build meaningful friendships. Whether students are interested in academics, arts, leadership, technology, or athletics, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved. The choir and band programs have been exceptional and have played a significant role in my daughter's growth and confidence. She was encouraged to develop her musical talents and was given numerous opportunities to perform at school and community events. These experiences not only helped her excel musically but also provided tremendous motivation, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment. The dedication of the music teachers and the variety of performance opportunities make these programs a valuable part of the school's overall educational experience.Parent engagement is another area where the school excels. Communication is consistent and transparent, and families are encouraged to participate in school events, volunteer opportunities, and decision-making processes. This strong partnership between the school and parents creates a collaborative environment that benefits students.Overall, Union middle school provides a well-rounded educational experience characterized by strong leadership, diverse opportunities, active family involvement, and a genuine commitment to helping every student reach their full potential.Parent Review3w ago61 Reviews - Leigh High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is horrible. My son was in the hospital and missed pe for first semester and tried to make up for it for golf. It turned out that I was supposed to fill out a form to get him excused that was supposed to be filled out but was announced in first semester when he wasn’t there. Overall, this school is very discriminatory towards people that have had medical issues and please don’t send your kid there.Parent Review2mo ago22 Reviews - Check out schools near 1663 Merrill Dr #D.

"There are lots of dogs in my neighborhood. Dog owners are often out walking their dogs on leashes. People are friendly and inviting towards dogs. Streets are mostly well lit and are relatively quiet so dogs don’t seem to get spooked by lots of driving cars."

"I like the neighborhood, but sadly a lot of the houses here are OLD. The house we live in; it's freezing cold in the winter, hot in the summer because there is absolutely NO insulation whatsoever. We end up with $1000 a month PGE bill for 5 months every winter. The landlord has never bothered to upgrade so we are living in a house with 56 year old wiring. Otherwise, if you can secure one of the few updated/totally remodeled houses around here, it's a fantastic place to live. Depending on where you are to 85, it's pretty quiet except for the occasional party."
